[2.4.2 AJJW] Merchant Republic Unable to Maintain Empire Title as Primary

As Venice, formed Italia and the empire title automatically became primary. Saved the game. Reloaded save, "Most Serene Republic of Venice" (kingdom level) is primary, despite still holding "Principality of Italia" (empire).

I then edited "landed_titles.txt", specifically the "dignity" flag for k_venice. I changed the value from 200, to 10. I went to reload the save game, and the empire title properly displayed as primary.

I'm unable to reproduce this. Can you reproduce it in the 2.4.2 beta? Do you have exact reproduction steps on how to recreate this?

This is was in the 2.4.2 beta. The steps that happened were:

Be merchant Republic.

Be head of merchant republic.

Have k_venice (as primary).

Create k_italy, and k_sicily after taking over the required duchies.

Form e_italy.

"Principality of Italia" now primary title (automatically).

Country shows as "Italia" on map.

Conquer d_latium (Rome)

Save game.

Exit game.

Load save.

Country now named "Venice" on map.

Select your character to play as.

"Most Serene Republic of Venice" is primary title again.

"Principality of Italia" still title still listed.

Exit game without saving.

Open "landed_titles.txt"

Change "dignity" flag for k_venice from 200 to 10.

Save "landed_titles.txt"

Reopen game.

Load save game.

Country shows as "Italia" on map.

Select your character to play as.

"Principality of Italia" is primary title, as it should be.

First I've got empire of Carpathia, but then after some time I lost it as primary title. It was still in my posesion, but I couldn't activate it as primary. I didn't notice it at first, so I have no idea what triggered it back then. I thought this is some kind of game mechanics for venice, so I started saving prestige for "Create Empire" decision.

Once I created Empire of Venice it was ok, until I started and won a war. Then, on re-entry I was again a King of Venice with 2 imperial titles. Luckily I had a backup save during that war, and when I load it, I'm still Emperor. But it looks that as soon as I finish the war and re-enter the game, the title is screwed. So, it doesn't happen in-game, just after re-enter (in fact, when you select a game to load and it loads this intermediate screen with map, the title is gone there already, you don't even have to start the game).

I reported a bug of this issue as well, that time after creating a custom empire.

On a related note, it also seems buggy that a King can't make an Empire his primary title, because they "aren't the same rank".
