Description: I've got an ironman game cloud-saved. When I loaded it up recently, the file appears to have been severely corrupted, and it seems to have been a result of the most recent update.

Several database parameters have negative values, and everything else seems generally out of whack. I've put a lot of time into this save, and if there's some way to fix it or know what caused it, I'd love that info.

DLC's: Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome, Sunset Invasion, The Republic, The Old Gods, Sons of Abraham, Rajas of India
Mods: None active, GoT is installed.

Haven't reproduced yet, will reply to this thread if I'm able to do so.

I think it may have been a result of the latest update, as that had occured to me too. The best thing to do is rollback an update (right click on Crusader Kings II in your steam library list, click "Properties", then click "Beta" and use the previous update you want. Note that you do not need to enter a code, just click the update and exit out), but I have not done that yet.

I have the same issue. (Registered here just to report it.) Lots of values all over the place are really large or negative. I have more raised troops than I am supposed to be able to raise and they are locked in a never ending battle against a negative number of troops from the Golden Horde.

My save is not in the cloud, but it is an ironman. If Paradox would like to and you tell me how, I could send you a copy of the save game file.

My game version is 2.4.2 AJJW. No mods, and just the following DLC: Dynasty coat of arms pack 1, Mongol face pack, ruler designer, songs of albion, songs of faith, songs of the holy land, The Old Gods.

A minor detail which probably does not matter: I did start it in the cloud originally, but that save game was corrupted and refused to load. To recover it (lots of time invested on this game), I found some instructions for making a local copy and was able to recover the save. That was a year or so ago and I have been playing it from local disk until today (the first time in a few weeks), when everything is messed up, like in the above report. Luckily because of the original save game corruption, I have been afraid of corruption since then, so I have made backups of the save game files every now and then, so I should be able to recover once the fix is pushed out. But for now the game is not playable.

Older saves are generally not compatible with newever patches. Also following instructions (from a unofficial source ?) and not getting it to work can´t really be seen as a bug.

Fair enough, but this game has been working fine for about a year of play after I rescued it when it got corrupted in the cloud. It did not get corrupted back then because of patching, it just went corrupt. Maybe a network glitch, breaking the cloud save?

What is the recommended way to play the game then? By default the patches come down automatically from Steam, so I presumed that it is recommended that everyone applies them and save games get ported to each new patch. If the recommendation is to apply the patches only when starting a new game, I wish they had told me that more clearly, so I would have disabled the update process entirely until I am finished with a given game.

The 2.4.1 patch notes specifically stated that ironman saves would be broken with the new patch, and that will carry over to newer patches. Roll back to 2.3.6 if you want to continue that ironman game.

In general, if you don't want problems, finish a game with the patch it was started with. It's why they provide older patches as "betas".
