So in my current Gildehusen (Visby) - Ironman Game my Liege, the current Head of the Merchant Republic who is in his 60s, starts a civil war. Some years in he dies. A new Head of the Republic/Revolution (not me) is elected. The Game ends.

Fortunately, the Ironman does not save the game over and I can continue at the last savepoint.
Unfortunately, the war is going on for years and the old stressed out fart constantly dies.

Well, I tried, but 6 MB seem to be too big to upload and I don't want to create an account on some site.

In the meantime, 10 years later, there was another revolt by another liege of mine. This one also died and I inherited. No game over, but now I'm feudal - The merchant republic is no more (which is imho worse than game over, because I can't even reload).

There seem to be some basic things wrong with the inheritance mechanics of revolting merchant republics.

I was unable to reproduce this issue. Do you have any additional information? I.e. which type of civil war were your Liege in? Was he the leader of the Civil war or just a secondary participant? Did you hold land or were you landless?

I hope this works: http://wikisend.com/download/850504/Ironman_Gildehusen.zip
I just tried it again, the leader died after ca. 1 year and the game was over.

This is the first war (with the game over), the reason for the game over seems to be that the Republic goes feudal (as it did in the 2nd war) and you can't play a lowly mayor.
Both wars were wars to lower crown authority against the king of sweden. The liege was the leader and only member of his faction. He didn't own any additional holdings beside the city of Gotland and neither did the patrician who became the new Leader. I held 2 cities (and of course the mansion).
