It's definitely a bug -- the Mediterranean facepack dlc014.zip -- still contains the updated Byzantine stuff. It's just not working, and I'm trying to figure out why.

edit: Ok, fixed the Cuman issue and the Italian issue in just about two seconds by using secondary graphical cultures. The harder issue though is the Byzantine bug. I can't seem to get the Byzantine portraits to work no matter what I do. I thought it might just be a missing .gfx file, except the Byzantine .gfx files are in the main game directory instead of dlc014.zip ... which is the same as before. But for some reason the game just doesn't want to use them. Can't fathom what went wrong.
How did you fix the cuman portaits? It is really bugging me.

i don't know how he did it, but i fix the cuman and iberian potrait by making a small personal mod that alter the 00_culture.txt file and change the appropriate line.
Don't suppose you could share this mod with me or at least tell me how you went about doing it? I would be very grateful.

sure does. all i did was only changing the italian culture graphic from italiangfx into southern gfx in 00_cultures.txt.

Don't do that, you'll lose the new Italian units. Instead, give Italians "southerngfx" instead of occitangfx as their secondary graphical culture. Keep italiangfx as primary.

Then you'll get both the Italian units and the Iberian portraits. :)

The Horse Lords Content pack includes Italian units, which is what caused this bug bc it introduces the italiangfx graphical culture.

The greeks past 1066 show up properly, if the portraits_mediterranean.gfx file is taken out of the interface folder.

So the file affects it in some way.

Is this the old one formerly used for when italians were covered by the MedPortraits DLC ?
I find it in 2.2.1 version, not in 2.3.6, but didn't compare yet.*
If so, is it for modding purposes only ? Better put in another sub folder then, like the portrait_offsets folder mabye.

Oh that's a nice catch. I was messing with portraits_byzantine.gfx (the new file) to see if something was wrong with it but the code was all correct, which was why I was so confused. I didn't look to see if portraits_mediterranean was still sitting around, because all of these gfx files were in the interface\portraits folder instead of the interface folder like they used to be.

I also just looked through some files and couldn't find anything obvious.
Not that this does mean anything, but well...
So i looked around the folders and saw that one, then checked if it was in 2.3.6 which it wasn't.
There is an issue and a new/reborn file which might affect things ? Then take it out... and tada , i found the culprit.
That's the equivalent method in bug searching to switching the computer on and off in general PC Tech support.

Still i wonder if there might have been another reason for it to exist than for modding (which were a bit late!),
but i can't think of one. The new DLCs also don't affect....wait, italian units ? Hmm...na, probably not.

Let's hope that this was it or that PDS knows better. :cool:
