[2.3] Doge of Venice dies, game over as a patrician

I was playing as a patrician in Venice when the current Doge gets murdered by his daughter, another patrician gets elected Doge, and immediately I get the game over screen.

sidenote, while viewing the chronicle at this point, the total score at the top right keeps on increasing indefinately past the point where it becomes negative and continues increasing again

I cant seem to reproduce it, i tried killing the current Doge in several different ways and with me being the next successor and not. Do you have a save game you could upload so we more easily can locate the issue?

Just to be sure, did you use any mods when this happened?

It was an ironman game, no mods. I have fortunately been able to load the game from the last save and managed to survive a bit longer. I should also note that i did own a city as well and was not next in line to become the doge.

As I managed to continue with the save, i cannot upload a save game, i'll be sure to make a copy of it the next time.

This would be WaD if the successor Doge was not a Patrician. It's essentially the same as the last of your dynasty dying - that's also game over.

Wouldn't it be a bug that the successor to a Merchant Republic is not a Patrician?
