[2.3.4] Yazidi Sheikh can't excommunicate

My character created the Yazidi Sheikhdom but is unable to excommunicate anyone. The request excommunication diplomatic action is greyed out because I "Cannot interact with self."

Indeed, this is an ancient "bug." The "excommunicate" button has never worked as an A->B interaction. "Excommunicate" has always been a request to the religious head to excommunicate the target.

But when you ARE the religious head, and your religion can excommunicate, the game thinks you are trying to ask yourself to excommunicate the target, hence "cannot interact with self." Thus in some ways this is working as designed, but the person who decided that Yazidi sheiks should be able to excommunicate didn't realize how the excommunication button worked.

This is exactly the same thing that used to happen when it was possible to play as the pope.

I was pretty sure that this had been reported previously and added to our bug database, but I can't seem to find any reports of it. But yes, it seems that when Yazidi was added, we didn't think of the consequence of being able to play as the religious head himself. As grisamentum mentioned, the action is a request rather than an action you perform yourself.

I filed a new bug report of the issue and hopefully, this is something we can get fixed in the future.
