Hi, not sure if this is a bug or intended...

I started to play as one of the patricians of Venice with the Old Gods start, got elected to doge, acquired a coastal city via the republic CB, later acquired the county as well (and another city in another coastal county) and lost the doge election. Upon winning a new election I immediately get the "you have become the ruler of a republic and are therefore no longer allowed to continue playing" message and the game ends.
The capital of the county I own is a city.
One strange thing is, when I try to load the game, when selecting the character on the worldmap it shows him as a count (with a different attire and all), but once it loads the game he becomes a Lord Mayor again. Another (possibly important) piece of information is, that when the game ends due to this, I can see that the list of my holdings gets reduced to 3 (I presume its the 2x city and 1x castle) and I seem to lose all my trade posts.

I have all the DLC until Sons of Abraham, obviously Republic as well.
Any ideas how to fix this or am I just not getting some game mechanic?

As we've revised the way governments work, this should no longer be possible. If you still have the save game, it'd be great if you uploaded it and shared it with us, so we can make sure the issue doesn't persist.

Thanks for the report!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, here is the savegame (for some reason I wasnt able to upload it via the forum):
http://www.filedropper.com/assasination
Conveniently an assasination attempt against the current doge is about to start, its sucessfull more often than not, so you can see the result yourself.
If it is a bug, are there any console shenanigans I can try to restore it?
