[2.3.4] [R.Y.E.W] Killing Doge as non-heir Patrician GAME OVER

Hi guys,

Starting new iron man game in 774 Amalfi Republic as House Ravelli (Patrician) not using ruler designer.

Choose Intruige focus for the bonus, and eventually get a high murder plot against the current Doge. Once the plot fires successfully, that causes a game over if I am not the expected heir.

I noticed that on the game over screen my character icon top left shows me in the republic of venice as an unlanded court chaplain sometimes?

Being unable to kill the doge like this makes it harder to move up to Doge if the other patricians have a lot more prestige and high intrigue.

I have all DLC and packs except east/west early clothing.

Do you have the savegame where this is happening? I've played a lot of republics and don't recognize the behavior, and I was unable to reproduce it from a fresh save. It'd be really great to get a look at it.

I tried to upload the save from Documents>Paradox Interactive but this post wouldn't allow it.
I started a fresh Ironman save as the Amalfi Ravelli Patrician, and had no problems killing a Doge with an Intrigue focus event, and other Doges with Murder plots. Weird! Was having heaps of trouble in about 4 Ravelli starts with the same issue of killing the first Doge causing a Game over. Thanks for looking into it anyway, i'll keep going with my current game!

Yeah, that's exactly what I tried. Well, it might be that your issue is fixed in our internal build - I know we've looked into Merchant Republic succession a bit. In any case, if you find an exact repro/savegame please ping me!

I had a similar problem (outlined here). What religion/culture was your character, Liuka?
EDIT: my bad, misread the "not using ruler designer"

It might be the plots that are causing the issue, but in my case patricians completely uninvolved in plotting got their titles revoked, while others that helped plot stayed. Only relation seemed to be religion, but now even that's not consistent.

I have a save file for Ravelli ironman that literally loads to a game over where you can see my patrician has been moved to the court of Venice, i can see how to upload the file but where/what extension is the file you need? My ck2 is a steam copy.

Yea definitely plot related, I had an autosave just after getting the popup that we're committed (about to kill the doge), then when the plot succeded it caused game over and unlanded my character and changed courts. I know it caused it because the plot succeded popup and game over happened same time. Shame about your game

Was your involvement in the plot discovered?

i'm not sure, but makes me think maybe if you plot against the doge - succeed and get discovered, and you're not the heir, and the heir is not involved in the plot, then the new doge is somehow exiling you?

I actually started a new game and had the same issue happen again, succeeding and getting banished. I think for Republics i'll hold off plotting against the doge until i'm the expected heir ha.
Or maybe try again seeing if the expected heir being involved or not makes a difference when plotting against the doge.

I can guarantee the new doge doesn't exile you explicitly, since in my multiplayer game the new doge was me and we lost a patrician anyway.

Try uploading the save to an upload service like Mediafire or Dropbox, and linking to the download link they give. The forum has a built in uploader, but from what I've seen, it isn't that good.
