Checksum: DAQH
Game mode: Ironman & Normal

Reproduce:
1) Start as Socotra
2) Revoke the city
3) Land your son in the city
4) Attempt to imprison. If you succeed, release and repeat until he revolts
5) Do the same with the other vassal
6) Surrender to the other vassal. You will be forced to abdicate to your son, who is a burgher with no other holdings, and technically independent while revolting.

Expected outcome: I continue the game as my son, the newly elected grand mayor of the Merchant Republic of Socotra
Actual outcome: Game over (You have become the ruler of a republic and are there for no longer allowed to continue playing. With a score of -514 you have not accomplished anything of note)

Age is not a factor. I have tried setting my sons age to 32. Same result.
Starting time is a factor. I have verified the bug is present in these ages:
- Early middle ages
- Viking Age
- High Middle Ages
- Age of the mongols

It does work in the Late middle ages

DLC: All of it, and especially Republic. I have verified it is installed and working by starting a Venice game.

Nice find!
This issue is now reported into our database.

Thanks for a detailed and a good reported bug!

Firstly I hope you enjoy your time in the QA team and congrats.

Now onto the actual bug. I am pretty sure that it is intended that you can not create a merchant republic in such a manner. Doing so from my understanding was an exploit and that you could no longer do it, I thought was done to stop the exploit.

I was more under the impression that they had just never bothered to develop that transfer. Calling it an 'exploit' is wishful thinking on the part of some.
