I realize there's a thread just 2 spots down. However, it's full of fanboy replies pointing out that, you know, if your mayor sits on 500 gold or 1,000 gold and doesn't invest anything, then that's a cool gameplay feature.
It isn't. I spend my time monitoring when my mayors have accumulated enough money to do something reasonable (e.g., enough money to buy anything but a university), then I just use a cheat, give myself the money, and build a reasonable building myself (typically money-related as it seems fit for a city). As I don't play iron-man - I would if getting achievements weren't also bugged (I first didn't on ironman; then I got few; then it stopped again giving me any), it's fine, just zero immersive and an additional accounting hassle.
Die-hard fanboy will go to any length to justify this bs. It's a bug, period. My bishops upgrade fine - smartly and promptly. My mayors don't; and they don't use the money for any excesses either - it just grows, and grows, and grows. It's like you have a realm of Uncle Scrooges...and that's
A BUG (spelled: a BUG)
not a game feature. Kindly devote some programming hours to fixing all these bugs as opposed to pumping DLCs, and "re-balancing" (generally making the game harder). Thanks.
