Who was your designated regent? Who became regent instead of that character?

I did find a scenario where my designated regent didn't end up becoming my regent, but any additional information might be great. Thanks!

To be regent, your designated regent must be in your court, but you can give the title to any vassal (that is, including people not in your court) and it is also possible for the DR to leave your court (eg being dismissed as a councilor). In that case, if you need a regent, it just gives you somebody else.

Rhone, can you tell us if your DR was in your court?

Ok thanks for the response. I gave the designated regent title to the kings brother. He is not in my court, he is a duke and one of my vassals. So if i gave my brother the DR title and appointed him to one of my council positions he WOULD become regent when the king died, but if he was not in my council and was in his own court he WOULD NOT become regent. correct?

Correct.

Being able to give away the DR title to people who won't actually become regent is arguably a flaw. It probably does at least deserve a warning (because displaced councillors who have the title create the same issue)

Yeah agreed. Don't mind the system of only courtiers/councillors having the ability to be regent, but this could be better explained before awarding title. You should also be able to revoke the title without penalty if your DR courtier is displaced...

At the very least the description of Designated Regent should include this. I had no idea, as my designated regent has never become my regent. I simply assumed it was misleadingly named.
