I was the Sultan of Egypt. I changed capitals to Cairo from our traditional family capital of Farama in Sinai. Our capital is now Cairo.

My son was Emir of Cyrenaica to the immediate west of Alexandria. I died; he inherited.

He wanted to change capitals back to Farama. He couldn't, because "you can only change capitals once per lifetime." But he has never changed capitals!

Are you sure that he didn't change capitals while you weren't looking? As we haven't been able to reproduce this?

I've had a similar issue. Playing Eire, formed britannia, king died, son can't move capital as it is not the traditional capital or it states he has moved a capital already when he hasn't.

I thought I had this problem too, until I realized that my heir had switched capital of the dutchy I gave him to avoid the "unlanded son" penalty, so when he eventually inherited my empire I couldn't change its capital. Probably WAD, but in my opinion it would make more sense to replace the "once per ruler" limit with a "once per ruler and title" limit...

Sorry, I didn't realize it was WAD for the AI decision to change capitals at the duke level to affect him once he's inherited the kingdom and become player-controlled. He may have moved at the duke level before becoming king.

It seems kind of silly to restrict the player's plans to change the kingdom's capital because the AI decided to change capitals in a tiny duchy. This encourages to player to avoid landing his sons because they might "waste" their one lifetime capital-moving decision.
