This. Currently, left-clicking opens the character view, while right-clicking opens the diplomatic menu with the "marriage option" already selected for you.
I mentioned that in the last major patch release thread I believe, a couple of pages in. I am surprised someone found it.
It didn't go unnoticed. I know that there currently are some inconsistencies in how some menus/lists are handled when it comes to left and right-clicking. I'm going to bring this up to the team and see how best to solve it so that it's both more user friendly and consistent in use.
