You can see in the research tab, float over the tech you are currently researching and see if there's a "research agreement" modifier there.
I am aware of this, mate, but it doesn't in any way help making an informed decision who you would want to forge a research agreement with. What you need to know there is how many techs the other empire has researched that you don't have yet. Because otherwise you are playing a guessing game. You effectively told me "just do the agreement and check every single research you pick after for bonuses"
The previous system had two major features the current one lacks, while the current one needs them even more because it demands investing influence:
- You could check how many techs you will get a bonus for and the other empire will get a bonus for before picking up the research agreement;
- The research agreements used to be temporary - this effectively allowed the player to check how the tech balance has changed after X years before continuing or canceling the agreement.
As it is now, you have to guess how many bonuses you will gain while you also spend influence in the process, and you have no way of knowing when your research agreement has become obsolete and you would be better off canceling it and looking elsewhere.
I don't mind spending influence for these but hiding the relevant information for making the call and when to cancel the agreement simply takes away any meaningful choice. We need that information available.
Btw when I hover over the acceptance tick I see nothing to help me decide
