So I have this issue. I like keeping extra free jobs because they increase immigration pull. But I also like to have my pops work Generators before Farms.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to have both. If I downprioritize farm jobs, then pops work generators but "free jobs" buff goes away. If I open farm jobs, then pops jump from generators to farms. What gives?

Are they slaves or Agrarian? IIRC those make farm jobs more appealing than technician. Otherwise most species don't care.

EDIT; Agrarian Idyll also increases the pull for farmer jobs. Though you are going AI, it's perfectly viable at the start to sell excess food for EC.

Immigration pull is much less important than emigration push. My recommendation is not too worry scout it. Once you start getting colonies up, make sure there is overcrowding in your capital planet so that people are encouraged to pack there bags and leave.

Edit: just realized I misunderstood your question. I'll leave this on here anyway because I think it's good advice.
