As a Norse character, I managed to come up with a bunch of LC (modded the ability to make Hussar retinues for kicks) and when I threw them into battle, they prove so skilled that the enemies simply killed themselves (to a man!) while marveling at the skillful stillness with which the Norse cavalry were not attacking. Or perhaps more straightforwardly, the Russian tribals I was fighting carried out their battle animations as intended (so the animations in general aren't broken), swinging swords and axes and whatnot, while my light cavalry simply stood there in their idle animation, winning extremely smugly (only ten died laughing).
