2.2.1 constantly crashing

I've haven't been playing the game for couple of weeks since 2.1.0.5 now after the last update the game crushing every time i play.
Does the game produces crush report that i can upload here for finding a reason for those crushes?

Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

IF that doesn't help Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.


BTW the word is "crash".

The game just crashed again.

I'm in the middle of big jihad against me and the crashes just happens without something that I can spot while in game.

Are these crashes just happening in one particular save game? If you start a fresh new game as a test, do you get such crashes too?

I've re-install as you instructed, only for the setting again the message settings I need war reparations.
I'll reinstall the driver and check the settings.

Still crashes in my old save game and in a new game as well

Game has been horribly unstable for me as well ever since CM came out. For me 9/10 it's the result of a specific army stack arriving at a specific province. I've had workarounds succeed by doing things like altering move orders or disbanding stacks. Easiest way to find out if your crash is army related, disband all your levies. If this forces an immediate CTD, then you can reload and test disband stack by stack till you find the culprit. Game has been horribly unstable for me as well ever since CM came out. For me 9/10 it's the result of a specific army stack arriving at a specific province. I've had workarounds succeed by doing things like altering move orders or disbanding stacks. Easiest way to find out if your crash is army related, disband all your levies. If this forces an immediate CTD, then you can reload and test disband stack by stack till you find the culprit. If that doesnt work, check to see if any vassals have private wars, imprison and banish them to remove ALL titles they hold. I'll do experiments. And check if this will work out.

The CM expansion is a total disaster. If someone would release a mod with this level of stability, I believe that nobody would ever try this guy mods.
The game became a,disaster for more than a month. I wouldnt call the original CM even as Alpha release. It very aggravating.

Being at war seems to be the trigger for my crashes as well. Seems to run ok until I'm at war and will crash within a few months of troop movements starting.

This is exactly what I'm seeing

So I've done as you suggested and I found 2 levies of one of my direct vassal count (same dude) that when i send them home the game crashes.
I can alter the save game file and erase them from the file, will it work?

PI, any possible solutions?

In another thread, it was discussed with Groogy that this may have to do with an incompatibility where the patch assumes that you have all of the gfx DLC...

After installing them, I am no longer getting any CTDs...

Given the new sub forum banner and new sticky post, I suspect there will be a new beta patch available shortly, which hopefully will fix the issue.

Do you believe that deleting those levies from the save game fie itself will solve that problem? I really want to keep on going with my Empire and I cannot disband levies......

No I suspect it is a graphics issue with the troops. You could try selecting the troops moving the view to a section of water with nothing in it and disbanding them. But that isn't going to really help you to play the game, especially if you are ever in a war.

I can't do that.
Those levies wich are by the way from Lower Silesia are in the same army with 15000 retinues, when i hit disband button and approve it the game crashes, when i trying to disband them from the new unit screen, same thing, when I am trying to separate them from the retinues, crash.
The only thing that i havent done yet and willtry it later on is to separate the retinues from the levies and not the other way around, as I done earlier, maybe it will work somehow.
