[2.2.0.4] The Viceroy's debt

If a viceroy dies the liege will inherit his debt (with jewish money lenders). On the screenshots below you'll see that my emperor has gotten 2-3 of the loan modifiers without ever taking a loan. If you pay back the loan once all accrued loan modifiers will be removed. Until you get new ones when more viceroys die.

The same thing applies (apparantly) to banked money, holy relics and tech points.

Also to some degree to courtiers: A portion of a dead viceroy's family might flood your court once he dies.

It's not only the debt. Also relics, people and probably other stuff. Viceroys should inherit their stuff to whoever gains their non-viceroyalty holdings (e.g. their counties). AI rulers mostly waste their money on building tons of buildings. I am not even sure what is the point of them taking out the loans. To get even more buildings? Or did the drive themself bankrupt by building a too expensive retinue?

Whoever inherit main permanent title IMHO.
If I gave VR to some duke - next duke.
I gave only VR and should return back VR only - it is not inheritance, it is appointment and re-appointment.

As Johan said that they weren't able to get the error in their games: Here's a bunch of screenshots of how it can go down. Please at least look at them. Took me quite some time to get there as the king of Aquitaine lived longer than I thought.

King of Aquitaine, indebted twice (probably inherited from a vassal himself)

Now he died. His oldest son inherits his counties.

His second oldest son is 15 and ends up at my court:

His debt is added to my debt. His retinue is mine now, too.
As is the rest of his family:
- his wife
- his siblings
- all his children except the firstborn that got the counties
- his brother's four sons
- ...

(300 man retinue, a bunch of debt modifiers on my character)

Start a fresh new game with 2.2.0.7.

It seens it was *fixed* around 2.2.0.6 but not for old savegames.

Right now on all my tests since 2.2.0.6 the dynasty heir gets all the stuff (debt, retinues, cash, courties) and the liege gets only the title back. Unless the VR has no heir (no kids, etc) and the liege is the heir.


tldr: install beta. New game. Not old game.

You had me fooled for some time! This bug is still alive and well in 2.2.1!

-> On the viceroy's death I inherited his retinue and his family members. His son on the screenshot is already chilling at my court. As are his grandchildren. His county and duchy was meanwhile inherited by his cousin while his 5 sons each got nothing.

Stop using viceroy, the creation for it has been totally nerfed to oblivion.

The idea was that we could use it to create vassal theologie mercenary and republics.
Instead it is just a gimmick that is less then given out real tittles. But suffers from inheritance problems.
Sadly debt are inherited and viceroy are probaly not used at all. Or used so rarely cause of the many malus associated with it, that it isn't worthwhile.

To fix that viceroy crap that already missed it mark on modders and other people, they have to mess with inheritance laws. Which will cause a even bigger mess with modders.
So I say stop using that nerfed viceroy, be a man and give out real tittles. Or use it and suffer the flaws.

You can rack up quite a piety gain by inheriting it from viceroys. Which is wrong on many levels.
