I am playing a game as Gujarat and attacked Rajptuana while the caliph is also attacking. He has a lot of allies for his war against the caliph, but no allies in his war against me. I just got my army destroyed by 700 troops from Rajputana because they were joined in the battle by 8k neutral troops allied with them in a different war that were attached to them.

It appears that it you are attacking someone fighting 2 wars, if they have allies from the other war attached to their troops then the neutral troops will attack you.

Seems realistic to me. I wouldn't expect the large army to stand by while you slaughter his allies right in front of him. He may not be at war with you, but he is still marching together with his friends.

This behavior is WAD. Whenever you engage someone in battle, any allies that stands in the same province is going to participate in the battle as well. The argument by sperril is pretty much spot on. It would be strange for an ally to just stand and watch while is friends in arms get killed and not do anything about it.
