Playing as Norse/Norse empire of Scandinavia, I granted duchy of Oultrejordan (populated by Lollards) to a Norse priest. Duke tries to revoke Negev, gets a rebellion on his hands. Rebelling "duke" dies of poor health with no heirs, and I inherit his county and his "duchy", the Oultrejordanian Revolt.

And my game is apparently over. I can't grant titles to anyone, I can't revoke titles from anyone, I can't request religion conversion etc etc. Only options available to me due to "holding a temporary title" are: Send Gift, Educate Child, and Take Concubine.

I figured maybe getting into a war and ending it would trigger whatever trigger removes temp titles, but I OWN THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN MAP. No one to DOW against. I can't grant independence to a random count and gobble them back up because Grant Independence is unavailable when holding a temp title.

I suppose I could wait for a revolt/uprising... Oh wait, pretty much everyone loves the emperor, and I have enough soldiers that it would take a massive feat to make them rebel. Also, most of my provinces have either 1% or 0% revolt risk, so waiting for that will also take a while.

And this is only a hunch! I mean, I might finally get into a war only to find out that the title stays with me after it's over... GAAAAAAAAAH

This is a known issue and we are working on a patch that will fix several issues related to temporary titles and revolts. I have no ETA on when the fix till arrive though.
