[2.1.3] conquest of Rome broken

Hi,
I was blaying the byz, trying to mend the schism, restore roman empire, all that.
then I took the county of Rome.
Problem : I only took the bishoprics, the rest is still under pope's vasselage and I don't even have the option to declare war on the pope anymore.
Here is what I tried :
-killing the pope
-killing a vassal
no change whatsoever

Also I think this has been reported but during a defensive war, egypt and abbassid empire merged, I don't mind because it add some challenge, but still...
also, Ironman so if you could save my game I would definitly appreciate

I have the same problem with bysantin empire. I even took the whole Italy, but the pope still possess 3 baronnies in Rome, and its impossible to declare war. Have anyone a solution ? thanks.

Not being able to declare war on the pope is a known issue. We are working on a solution for it.
