Aye... this one kinda messed me up a bit in a MP game I was subbing.. Good thing I was only fighting AI Poland. Took me awhile to get the hang of it.

Been trying out the new beta... a couple observations...

- Have seen less CTDs than with any of the January betas. Was getting them roughly every 10-20 years of gameplay, but have now played 58 under new beta with only one CTD. Interestingly enough, *all* of the CTDs I can recall in this period were when France was at war with Aragon. I have seen no other commonalities...

- The morale thing seems pretty cool. With a lot of serfdom-lowering early (some of that with events) I was able to really roll over Castile and Aragon as France (an ahistorically strong France, as I successfully forcevassaled and annexed Burgundy prior to that, and *they* had all the Dutch provinces). Previously wars in Castile/Aragon were very close, even with overwhelming force, because of terrain.

- Still no option to rename units in-game (as in Victoria and HOI). Am disappointed. Can we get that?

Er, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (it might have happened in the January 20th or 24th Beta), but it seems that I can no longer set a fleet of ships as an intermediate destination for an army. That is, I used to be able to click an army, hold down shift, right click a fleet of ships, then right-click a destination on the other side of some water, and the troops would go onto the ships then onto the other shore. But now I have to move the army onto the ships, wait for them to get there, then unload them onto the opposite shore. Is this possibly a side effect of the changes that allow strait-blocking?

I guess it's just that I've seen it in other games and loved being able to do it - not just HOI and Victoria, but also in Master of Orion II and in Port Royale (and to a limited extent in SimCity 2000).

Plus, it's sort of silly if you have this huge multi-continental empire and your armies are stuck with territorial-related names that relate to places continents away from where they were created or are stationed (and that you may not even own).

Anyway, I was just mentioning it because it's about the only thing I can think of that *hasn't* been put in and wouldn't really affect gameplay all that much. After all, you *can* just leave the stock names on things.

This was changed in the november patch IIRC

You can always save the game, exit, and edit the names you want into the file and then restart. It's not convenient if you want to rename every corps you create, but at least you could assign names to the important ones.

I posted this in the bug forum yesterday or the day before. I miss that, too.

I know you can do the army/navy naming thing in the savegame (and I do) but I'd much rather have an in game option - if only because I have a tendency to play in maraton sessions, half of a GC at a time and such....

It can't be too difficult to code in, being that it does exist in both Victoria and HOI, and I've seen other people bring it up as well....

Ok i dont know if anyone else has noticed but this patch has done -something- to the events.

What exactly is wrong im not sure because everything appears to be correct in the events files themselves as well as in the text.csv so im at a loss...

Ive no mods on this - it worked fine with the last patch but now it doesnt.
I thought maybe it was just me so i uninstalled everything and reinstalled it all - and it still doesnt work correctly.
The only thing that could count as a mod is my own events i scripted for Byz - but they worked fine before and not even the paradox events fire right.

Ive tried 4 different countries. Byzantium, Brandenburg, Portugal, and Prussia. And the events seem to be totally well f*cked.

When i played as Byzantium the Union of the Churches event occurred and the two choices gave the following:
Accept = -100 relations with Hungary, Papal States, Muscovy, Lithuania.
+100 relations with Moldavia, Trebizond, France, Castille, Austria.
And nothing else for this event - no change to Catholicism - nothing.
Decline = +100 relations with Hungary, Papal States, trebizond
-200 relations with Moldavia, Muscovy
-100 relations with hungary, austria, france
And nothing else here either.

I had my own event called the Revival of the Empire which triggers upon the death of the OE it is meant to either give crap relations with Venice and Genoa in exchange for a COT in Thrace; or great relations with Venice and Genoa and a treasury/technology boost.
That fired and i instead got minus relations with the Papacy and the Golden horde for choice A - and no COT; and minus relations with Mamelukes and Trebizond for choice B and no treasury/tech boost.

Also when i was Brandenburg i got the excellent minister event - great except it gave minuses for the bonuses!

After I had noticed these things wrong i started switching between countries and trying to manually fire various paradox country based and random events.
About 80% of the country based events fired - but with weird results.
And it cant find ANY random events except excellent minister with the weird results.

Also when i was Portugal the social revolution of Joao I event popped up on my screen and as soon as i moved my mouse cursor - hadnt clicked the button - the event dissapeared and no choice appeared in the history bit.

Ive also noticed that Bohemia doesnt turn Protestant with the Death of Vaclav IV event.

Im thoroughly confused now - I thought it was maybe something I had done to the game but ive uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times now - with and without my events.
And the events in game r still f*cked.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me?

I dont understand this because everything appears ok in the event files and text.csv...

I'm guessing that you d/l the first version of the patch shortly after Johan posted it. There was a bug with it that Johan fixed on Sunday and then replaced the d/l patch so I'd suggest downloading the beta patch again, unpack it into the EU2 directory (and replace all) and this should clear it up.

I have the same problem as angelscotboi. Except, that I have a problem with the change province culture command. It will rarely show up in the effects screen, if it does at all. I also have the newest beta patch installed several times just to make sure. It wont work manually either. Could some one confirm.

Basil - go to the beta patch thread and download the Feb beta patch again thats what i did and reinstalled it.
It all works perfectly now...
