Eurasia is still to powerful. How about getting rid of some German ICs and adding some to the Russian?

Sure the resources are as modable as anything else. Just a bit harder. I'm just thinking that if Indonesia and the phillipines are independent they won't be for long. They will be captured within a few months...

Don't forget the nuclear war they hinted at, that should cripple the high IC areas for the North American and European areas at least. Also I think part of indonesia should go to Eastasia at least. They are a bit small as-is.

Last Exam was yesterday and the party this night. From the moment of my arrival home I'm pretty free (for some time, anyways), so I'll begin to produce some real results:D

My concern is not the size of EastAsia, but rather its possibility of expanding. I want a battle for resources not a two-way war between Eurasia and Oceania, with EastAsia left behind

I just had a thought...maybe the resource should be preponderent in the slave territories rather than the home provinces....like in the book

How about this- the traditional 1984 world is made for MP, while a single player mod is made for the time before- the 50s and the 60s "the era of revolution". Three pronged civil wars everywhere, the Russians invaded Europe, the revival of Japan.

There is already a 1948 scenario idea floating around...hey, a 1948-1984 package would rock!

Seriously, I would rather see this scenario finished, rather than embarking on some nowhere going vessel...at least for 1984 we have a book...for 50s-60s we have nothing really...and the interest would be low

I began working on some stuff...most of all are for Oceania...and I though that the other two deserve some unique stuff, so this is my main project....I hope that in SP, people will also be interested...I would, for one....:D

Ok, I'll tell you.

1. Working on some graphics. The original HoI graphics are really easy to change and I want to give some orwellian personality to the mod...
2. New events for Oceania...pretty easy to do (hateweek, public trails)
3. Thinking at an original approach towards EastAsia and Eurasia....we can't make them pure copies of Oceania
4. Sometimes even sleeping:D

Impressive that you got right to work on the mod. Since your working on events I better tell you i'm not sure about the tags for the nations. I originally was using the tags I mentioned a few pages before but those didn't work. For several reasons that I couldn't fix. Not sure If I can get them to work but I do know that your shouldn't use those tags because two of them it turns out are already in use.
I use.
U00- Eurasia
U01- Oceania
U02- Eastasia
U03- Slaves

Not sure if that's usefull but I just thought I'd mention it. Couldn't hurt.

Not really; all that'd need to be done is to add code in the scenario file to make pre-existing wars between all three superpowers and the slave states, much like pre-existing wars exist between Ethiopia and Italy, and the two Chinas, at the outset of the 1936 scenario of vanilla HOI. Shouldn't be too difficult, once tags are fixed for each nation.

Exactly. Pre-existing wars are fairly easy. I've been having trouble getting them to work though. I haven't spent much time on it. I'll get it soon.

The Slave State set upd does not make any sense. Would the Slave States have armies? would the be unified in a decleration of war? Would they all pledge alligence to Goldstien? Just give the provinces to the three powers, or make a more individual set up for the states.

Hmm...

You guys have really pulled off something. That map was really cool looking, it made me a chuckle a bit.

I think to help create some balance for the game, you would need to be able to edit supply consumption. First, you should up the consumption of all the units considerably (this causes you to waste more of your economy on just maintaining an army rather than expanding it or making it better). Second, since Eastasia is an incredibly efficient country, lower its supply consumption quite a bit. I think for the slave states, you should make the infrastructure very low (but only if you could make it so it didnt cause attrition to the unit, just made it hellishly slow) and make the capital (Tahiti, Goldsteins impenetrable fortress :D  ) of the Slave States have a ridiculous amount of IC's and resources and MP, but maybe at most 5 transports (they couldn't make anymore).

Also, I think the countries should have an endless amount of resources and supplies, and shouldn't worry about MP (they should only worry about the cost of creating and maintaining an army ;) ). The countries would have a fairly high IC count, maybe about 1000 each (not the slave states mind you).
1. Eastasia: 1200-1500 IC's
2. Eurasia 900-1300 IC's
3. Oceania: 1000-1200 IC's
Note: the last two countries should have lower IC's for game balance, and also they supposedly went through a massive nuclear holocaust. The IC's of the last two could possibly be lower to make it even more balanced.

Finally, my opinion on boundaries (just my two cents). If I remember correctly, Oceania actually had a fair amount of holdings in India (remember Winston reading about "our boys out in the jungle" or something like that). Also, I think the Phillipines and parts of Indone- Malay- sia should go to Eastasia. Give Oceania the Aleutians and Hawaii. Also maybe instead of making a Slave State, maybe make some "unclaimed" territory? I don't know if this is in the least bit feasible, but it would simply be land that had people living in it, but they had no allegiance to any country. You could not annex them, nothing like that, you could just occupy them. It would be able to change hands multiple times. If that isnt possible, just make those provinces have 0 IC, ) forts, 0 AA, and maybe like 20 Infra.

I think thats about it, and I am sure some of my stuff has already been rejected or it is impossible, but I am just trying to help. I would like to get my hands on this as soon as it becomes playable, I am just trying to speed up the process. :D

Great stuff, keep up the superb work 1984 team!

Belive it or not, I sleep more than in the last few months:D

I've already stated: I consider the Slave Territories feasible only as a big blob. otherwise, I doubt anyone of us shall have some fun with it.

Second, I need some IDs for events...I forgot the limit between ours and those of Paradox team.

I think that unlimited resources would be too easy...lots of them ok but we must have some reason for conquering the ecuatorial zones (apart from permanent war)...

Third, we could use some help in this project....Dedicated ones...if we want the first beta in three months (that's a lot of time, hope we can reduce it...)

The idea that the IC for Oceania and Eurasia are lower due to the nuclear wars is a great one....and makes sense too:D

This mod is looking really good. I've done a little work, and come up with a couple flags:

Oceania
1.gif

A modified flag of NATO, since Britain, America, and all of the smaller states that make up Oceania would have probably joined in with NATO if a world war broke out in the fifties.

Eurasia
3.gif

Diff version of the Soviet flag. The Cyrillic text in the corner is the abbreviation for "Neo-Bolshevik Republic of Eurasia" in Russian.

Eastasia
2.gif

A Japanese war flag with the symbol of the Chinese Republic in the Rising Sun. Since Eastasia isn't Communist, we can assume that Mao was kicked out of China (hence Orwell saying that Eastasia was at war before uniting, maybe Taiwan and Japan invaded Red China).

All flag images that were modified for these come from Flags of the World.
