There won't be a 1933 startdate - At least not in vanilla ;)

So this mean two things: there will be a DLC for 1933 startdate (it would be nice) or that we have to wait for modders to extend the pre-war period

Maybe save it for an expansion. If they can get a working 1939 out the door I will be happy.

I think they need to flesh out industry more. Right now if you suddenly want to build submarines, you build submarines, no need to build new factories for them etc..

A 1933 start date would be great as Germany or Japan, or even the USSR but what would you do as an allied country?

Build more industry, tanks, planes and other shooty stuff earlier. Also, a small country like Czechoslovakia or Poland has a much better chance to prepare if they've got 5 or 6 years warning rather than 2 or 3.

I loved the chance you got to opt out of the whole NSDAP-stuff alltogether in DH. Made for a fun communist game.

Hi,

I would just like to say that I support a 1933 start date, would make the game more in depth. Maybe with a mechanism bloccking all-out war in the first years, but still, it would give you more time to prepare if you are playing France, or some small country such as Austria or Czechoslovakia.

If the timeline is to be extended then I would like it to be past 1949 and into the beginning of the cold war like 1960 or something like that. A 1933 start date is pointless, realistically you would not be able to prevent the NSDAP from winning in 3 months time.

I'm with you. I would prefer extending the timeline into the cold war rather than add three years to the start so you can take part in a second major conflict. But as Hadadad said, starting earlier could mean beat Germany faster and take on Soviets next. Either way makes for good alternative situations.

Hey, don't you know how this works? You let the noobs like me figure out how to win with only three years till the German doom machine comes rolling down on our heads, and only once we prove we don't need the extra time do you roll out an expansion giving us time to prepare for the Nazi juggernaut.

It's like with old-school games with 100% completion prizes; you only get the hand-held nuclear device which clears the room of all opposition at the push of a button once you've proven you don't need it.

But this will be whole new kind of HOI, so they could make peace time interesting and valuable

If they could do this, then I might actually consider buying the game.

I would like to see an earlier start date 1930-33 as well. I think it could add a lot of depth to the political/historical reasons for the war. For Japan and the US I would like to see the violation naval treaties of the 1920's and the oil embargo modeled in some fashion. For Germany Hitler's consolidation of power and infrastructure build up. For Italy more time to prepare for North Africa and increased infrastructure efficiency. For others dealing with the global depression of the 1930s, would prevent massive buildup of arms. Instead more focus would have to be placed on providing for the masses, and maintaining political power. If I am GB do I react when Japan builds a battleship, how hard do I protest, will my people allow me to go to war? If someone were to prepare for war too early there could be a possible malus which could cause the loss of political power and game over :).

I, for one, would love to see a game, which would cover the time period between the start of WWI and the Cold War. Scenarios could be 1914 (start of WWI), 1918 (end of WWI), 1931 (Mukden Incident), 1933 (Hitler rises to power), 1939 (WWII begins), 1945 (WWII ends, CW begins) and many others I've left out. If somebody would ever compose that with a bunch decent events and a capable AI, then I'm going to buy him a big pizza or two :)

For the sake of letting Germany have a few more options for Head of State, I support the idea. An Ernst Röhm Germany is one of my fantasies.
