National editor do the same thing.
Actually, if you insist that, it works better the other way: add 1933 and let the rest be done by "national editor", since all historically plausible outcomes in 1936, 1938, etc., must derive from a earlier point, e.g. 1933. It much more logical than retrospectively editing previous history.

Unless you mean "I don't want this so devs mustn't add it" which is not helpful.

Expanding on the idea of a 1933 DLC. Allow it to unlock a 1933 bookmark. The DLC would come with additional leader choices to take over for hitler's place dependant on a switch in government type, and also include some much more drastic changes to units or other national events to reflect a much more deviated alternate history. Make this all a part of the DLC, so that those who don't want that date don't have to have it and can keep things closer to normal. The 1933 date could potentially eliminate WW2 or drastically change the form of it or its players, so the expansion DLC would have to consider those changes, including extensive peacetime improvements should there be no WW2., But no, this should not be up for base game consideration.

That is what is suggested, a 1933 scenario as DLC so it would be optional to buy it the same way Old Gods and Charlemagne scenarios are optional for CK2. I believe a 1933 scenario would sell very well though, and you might even buy it yourself once you've overplayed the 1936 scenario and want some sandbox variety! ;)

1945 is probably a more interesting start with both Germany and Japan defeated and Europe very weak overall, you can do rather well as a minor nation seeking independence from the colonial nations as well as a large US-Soviet war about the control of the whole world.

1933 may mean the action is to far away and HOI4 is very poor at long time peace.

The main draw for a '33 date i see is the possibility of no Hitler. How else will the world work though? Japan still wants China, Italy still has imperial ambitions, USSR still wants Poland... also whose to say Germany won't have other events as well?

I think a '33 start date would be interesting, but the default start date should be '36. When a player chooses '33, it should be explicitly stated that things may be radically different.

There was a flashpoint between China and Japan in 1933: the Jehol/Rehe/Nekka incident, where Japan launched an invasion and captured the Chinese province of Jehol/Rehe and given to Manchukuo as Nekka. It also had the important effect of rendering Fengtian clique landless.

Also there was Italy's dislike of the Hitler in the early years, even cozying up to the Soviets to develop a mutual protection pact.

I would like to see it as a DLC down the track as there are people who like to set things up and want to choose to do different things. New Deal decisions, Japan trying to diplomatically isolate China, the Soviets struggle within being expanded.

It would be a great DLC, 1933 would be an interesting sandbox scenario where the German election could change everything! :)
