I would like to have a start date right in 1933, and see german elections maybe go ahistorically and hitler not gaining power, or using 6 years for massive buildup, more specific buildup that in HOI3's 3 years time.

But this will be whole new kind of HOI, so they could make peace time interesting and valuable

You're looking for Victoria II, not a Hearts of Iron game. But this will be whole new kind of HOI, so they could make peace time interesting and valuable
Yeah, an earlier date would be cool.
I think it would honestly be cooler if it's earlier, say 1930. I won't hazard saying 1920 post WW1 resolution but hey... it would be cool.

That's 6 years of maybe peace. The game goes by hours.
Lol, not for multiplayer, 6 years is about 3 sessions of multiplayer at 4 hours a piece.
That said though, I think both a balanced 1936 and 1933 start date would be ideal. The balanced part, though, would be the tricky thing.
As for the pre-war period, there could be alot of stuff to do diplomaticaly and economicaly, but the problem is that there is a potential for so many things to become unbalanced or go ahistorical that it won't resemble a WW2 era world if the game started in 1933.
Thats why I think there should be a '36 and '33 start date.
even 1936 can seem too early.
He's looking for Darkest Hour, which is a Hearts of Iron game last time I checked.
If they can do this you have my vote!
