1914 Scenario

I played the WW1 Scenario earlier today and found two country setups wrong:

1. Japan - Should be allied with the Entente and at war with Germany.

2. Montenegro - Should be allied to the Entente, too.

Edit: How about the AI? It is mid 1915 and the Western front doesn't exist. Sure, it's a Stalemate - along the Belgian-German border.

Was it already at this point, I thought it joined only later? Perhaps there should be an event allowing them to join later instead.

According to one of my books they joined in the beginning, not later. Although they didn't do that much in the war, they are a great help when it comes to Germanys colonies in China and the East Indies.

Well, since they had an alliance with Britain, they should at least get an event.

A HOI based Great War scenario will be up soon.

Rest assured there are plenty of events already written for that time period, studiously scripted and ensured to be historically accurate.

I recall that mod...one thing that should be doable is Japan possibly switching sides. I know I have lots of fun jumping in as Japan, which Britian is unable to cope with in Asia. I do wish Japan could just tear off a lot of coastal China, though.

I've just recently begun to nose around the game, but one thing I noticed immediatly was that the game begins with all sides already at war. IMHO it would be far more interesting to begin with the shots at Sarajevo and have a series of events with the choices the great powers had to make - because there were choices to be made.

Just to name one, Britain didn't join the war until Germany invaded Belgium. They prolly would have joined in the end anyway, but at least its a question mark. So one possible German strategy would be to ditch the Schlieffen plan, fight defensivly in the west and try to keep Britain (and the USA) out of the war.

You are quite right - which is why our mod starts in January 1914, and (without giving away too much just yet) it is entirely possible for Germany to scrap the Schlieffen Plan and for Britain and the USA not to enter the war.

Montenegro was officially at war on the 7th of August 1914.

On a side note: I think Montenegro is still at war with Japan, since the Russo-Japanese war (1904) and never signed a peace treaty. LOL

The country ceased to exist as an independent state after WWI, though.

Imperial Japan

At the start of the war as everyone seemed to be turning against Germany the rumor started that the Japanese were friendly to Germany. A whole mob gathered around the embassy in Berlin and the embarrassed ambassador had to tell them it wasn't true.

While the British did have a treaty with the Germans and their navies were very very close the Army was built up by the Germans (not by Tom Cruise and the Americans!). If they're neutral at the start it should be able to go either way though Britain should be a bit closer.
