A damn nice thing.

I'm not sure how the Dolchstoßlegende will fare in this TL, since there was no complete overthrow of the old order, and the army was still 'undefeated'; although there was sufficent pressure applied to bring 'peace from below.' In time, of course, the Regent will have to give his endorsement, however tepid, to any peace treaty and be seen to take a role in any emergent parliamentarianism.

There's also a question of the Imperial states - I assume that there will be a great desire now to prevent any abdications there - a Germany of republican federal units with Prussia as the only monarchy would be incongruous, not to say dangerous to Prussia. Ludwig III may have feld from Bavaria under the pressure of Eisner, but I doubt that Bavaria will have seen the last of the Witteslbachs! Of course, without a complete overthrow of the old order, there'll be demands for serious constitutional reform, particularly at the Imperial level and in Prussia - should be interesting to see how that pans out.

Well, until Kitchener leads a twelve million man army into Russia to liquidate Bolshevism and create a powerbase for Curzon's emergent position as Viceroy of the World and First Lord of Well, You Know, Pretty Much Everything, before invading the Moon, then yes, the war is over.

Bravo, a well fought war sir. Now the hard part: the peace. :)

So will Ireland be made a Dominion? Even given the diminished bitterness over the Easter Rising (compared with OTL) I doubt the Irish would be entirely happy with mere Home Rule after the long war.

Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
Herrscher des Vaterlands!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!
Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volks zu sein!
Heil Kaiser, dir!

Nicht Roß und Reisige
Sichern die steile Höh',
Wo Fürsten steh'n:
Liebe des Vaterlands,
Liebe des freien Manns
Gründen den Herrscher Thron
Wie Fels im Meer.

Heilige Flamme, glüh',
Glüh' und erlösche nie
Fürs Vaterland!
Wir alle stehen dann
Mutig für einen Mann,
Kämpfen und bluten gern
Für Thron und Reich!

Handel und Wissenschaft
Heben mit Mut und Kraft
Ihr Haupt empor!
Krieger- und Heldentat
Finden ihr Lorbeerblatt
Treu aufgehoben dort,
An deinem Thron!

Dauernder stets zu blüh'n
Weh' unsre Flagge kühn
Auf hoher See!
Ha, wie so stolz und hehr
Wirft über Land und Meer
Weithin der deutsche Aar
Flammenden Blick.

Sei, Kaiser Wilhelm, hier
Lang' deines Volkes Zier,
Der Menschheit Stolz!
Fühl' in des Thrones Glanz,
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volkes zu sein!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!

Yes! The Empire still holds! You hear that, you idot of an Austrian corporal? That's the sound of Nazidom taking a nosedive - and I don't mean any divebombers...

Wootage indeed!

A most interesting contrast between Roosevelt's "Three Points" the SWC "Eight Points" and that buffoon Wilson's "Fourteen Points". To the surprise of no-one I do of course believe the Eight Points to be the infinitely superior. ;)

It also appears the Hohenzollern dynasty has a good stab of surviving with the Kaiser gone. As I read it the complaints were against the man not the institution, so Kaiser Willy III may last. Assuming Germany holds together of course...

Given the peace negotiations and events to the East I suspect (and hope) the AAR is far from over. *Finger crossed*

The complaints were initially against the man and not the institution but as the man in question was as stubborn as a mule, some of the criticism was drawn upon the monarchy itself. The rule of the Hohenzollerns may continue; Germany may hold together. :)

And worry not, there is still plenty to be written about here.

As for the Hohenzollerns, at the present, they are captives of the SPD and those pressing for democratic reforms - there is little room for the Regent to frustrate movements for reform without incurring the risk of a republic.

If Ludwig III cannot be restored to his throne in Bavaria, some compromise may have to be reached. In fact, Prussians may regard it as an opportunity to jettison the troublesome, peculiar, Catholic southern Germans. ;)

Exactly! The arguments over peace. Precisely the reason for carrying the AAR through to the end. :)

Ideally, I would like to demobilise them and send them back home to their families and friends so that they can take up productive, peaceful lives! Woe betide the politician who attempts to take the army on another adventure.

Ireland is currently governed by a Central Board of IPP men appointed by London. Home Rule is due to be implemented after the war, but as you mention, this may be superceded. Much hinges upon the outcome of the next general election. :)

Great work Allenby, impressive indeed. So you have won and peace has arrived, but I still se many great struggles ahead. A peace-conference where everyone wants to grab all they can, a Germany filled with internal troubles and possibly also revolution. Maybe this Wilhelm III will not reign for long, but be forced away by communists and republicans, and what will then happen…
Looking forward to see how all this works out, and I do hope that this time around the British will get their hands on the Germany fleet and stop the Germans from scuttling it;)
