Then, who controls what in the Baltic and Russia?

Karl XII is currently in or on the way to Bender, with an infected gunshot in the foot. So I say that all the swedish baltic states are occupied by Russia...

He is already on his way home, he arrives at stralsund in 1715, but I leave it up to the russian player/Ai to occupy the baltic, combined with nice events about building St. Petersburg.
Btw don't quote Herman Lindquist, I've probably got a higher education than him in history...

It is very easy to to make the provinces ocupied by Russia. I can think of things more hard to do...

Wouldn´t it be better to have it start a wee bit earlier, so that we could have the trouble in Bender and all that, would make a nice event chain...

No it should not, Augustus II wasn't king in Poland anymore, as Charles XII forced him to abdicate, and replaced him with Stanisław Leszczyński.

Then why should Saxony be a polish vassal?

(And Stanislaw was far from legitimate, as many polish nobled DID say 'I object' when he was named king...)

I know it's easy
I could also change the date to, say 1700, then you could fight through the whole Great Northern War, but the reason for chosing 1715 is the fact that, just that year, is considered to be the start of the enlightment, and of course the death of Louis XIV, the end of another era.

The only explanation I can offer is that the map I had depicted 1700, when he were still in power, I didn't know who he were until I looked him up.
I promise you, if I change the startdate to 1700, Poland will be a satellite to Saxony, deal?

Btw, if there is something else you wanna discuss, send me a mail instead, so we don't f*ck this thread up.

you could simulate the Holy Roman Empire the same way they simulated the German confederation, all the german city states and duchies, and nations, with the exception of foreign lands like Swedish pommerania, should all be in a defensive alliance just like in the GC or 1861 scenario.

But just a question, what is that country in the Rhineland?

I'll probably use a similar system as in Victoria, but with stronger ties to Austria. The question is how strong the connection between north-south, between the protestants and catholics were, if a potestant state actually would go to war for a catholic one?

None yet, I just removed the westerm part of Prussia, as they didn't control it back then.
The three provinces removed from France represents Lorraine, but it's too many, as France took Metz, Toul and Verdun as early as 1552, later Lorraine was given to Stanislav in 1738, just to be fully incorporated into France in 1766.
It seems to have had some sort of independence around 1700, but probably best reprecented by the province of Metz, and maybe Nancy.

France 1715

as far as the map goes, you might want top go over the crimea, as it was Ottoman at the begginging of the century i beleive.

And, as stated, 1715 is the mark of a new era, and comes at the end of the wars of spanish succession, if it started earlier we'd be looking at 1688, and i think 1715 is better.

as for colonies and railroads and so on, i htink sorting these would be useful to, before we worry on events.

As for the Crimea and Ukraine...during the early part of the 18th centuary there was the Khanate of Crimea, Hetmanate of Ukraine and the Zaparogian Cossacks.
I'll try to do some maps later..

Here is the Ukraine, i used the TWEP 1919 map for the basis though, the blue lines indicate the borders of the main countries etc.

yeah..i only put them there because the map i had showed them on it.
I think that we could use the Crimea to depict the Khanate of Crimea and the Ukarine to Depict the Hetmanate, just with a few special political parties etc to make them believable.
As for Germany, well, we must work it out soon. the rest of Europe is fairly simple, but because Germany was even more complicated during the 18th centuary, we must find some maps and put them to use. We would need a fair amount of new German states, for exapmle the Rhine Palatinate and Brunswick etc.
I'll try to find some stuff on Germany.

raliroads certainly don't need to be disabled, it will just take along time to get any, and even then fopr them to be very basic.

It might prove better to turn them into canals...

Exactly, but, it would actually be more fun to be able to play through the War of Spanish Succession and the Great Northern War, instead of being thrown right in the middle of the GNW and missing out on the other one.
But then again it's a matter of compromise, and 1715 is the most logical startdate.

Too bad for a Swede like me :p
