I just tried out the 1881 scenario and i took some screenies ill try to share =)
1981.jpg

here you can see europe and north africa, right now only small coastline parts are colonised.

1986.jpg

here you can see an exciting new culture called "none"

1989.jpg

here not even 10 years later the entire african continent is over 70% filled with little colonial buildings. unfourtunately after this the game crashed :( , italy was fun to play though.

1881 is still quite a new scenario - has had much less attention than the others in betaland.

africa is mostly owned by germany and USA, they start building colonies in all the open spots within the first week so you have to be fast. england also takes about 5 provinces from egypt. im surprised france doesnt colonise algeria but lets the US and ottoman empire do it instead.

I assume this is supposed to read as 1881?

Although it would be entertaining to see Germany try to colonise Nigeria under Helmut Schmidt.

Who's the dark blue country in the last screenshot there? The USA?

Also, it looks to me like Africa needs many more countries. It seems to be lacking severely. Oh well, I guess that that's what VIP is for. :)

I suspect it is because they were the quickest, I am a bit dissapointed in france and Great Britain as they have a large headstart. this can of course be edited in ai files.
This scenario must make for a great mp game dont you think?

France, Germany and Austria are almost the same color. Anyway to make each color brighter/darker ?

Because it can - its stinking rich.

Of course it didn't IRL (apart from Liberia which wasn't EXACTLY a colony but close) but to stop it needs more AI development (atm in the game US has the same imperialist ambitions as Europeans).

Intresting but certainly not 'sweet' for those of us that like a semi-historical game. I'm not an expert on American feelings during 1881 but I can't imagine them wanting anything to do with colonizing Africa in the least.

Nice screenshots of the new 1881 scenario BTW. :)

The USA didnt start any colonies of its own I think it only took Spains. Yeah they should ONLY do colonial badboy stuff in Latin America and the Pacific.
