OK, the thread title says it all. :D

First of all, why didn't Viccy start in 1820? I've heard some statement that Paradox people liked playing Texas, but why couldn't there by both a 1820 and a 1835 scenario if that was the case? Is there some other hidden reason?

Second, why add a 1820 scenario? I think its quite obvious, 1820 means another 15 years, matches up with the end of EU2, more scenarios is always nice, 1820-1920 is much neater then 1835-1920. Lastly, I have always thought of 1820 as the 'proper' start date for Viccy. :D

Seriously though, what about it? Why ISN'T there a 1820 scenario in Vic already anyways? For the same magic reason that no such scenario will appear in Viccy?

I personlly would like to see the napolenic wars also but thats for another game...

Otherwise i think this to be a great idea but eh technologial limitaions might mess some things up, by this i mean small nations start at the same level as the big boys. (actully i think we could work around this...:)) Oterwise i think we should do it.

Well, the techs could use some tweaking anyhow, the importance of Freedom of Trade must be lessened somewhat for starters...
But personally I can't think of any great reason NOT to start in 1820...

Well, the thing is those are also official scenarios which 1820 is not.

If this one heats up I'm certain it can be given an own subforum as VIP does, but I don't see how this fits in VIP.

Two thumbs up for the idea, I also wondered why the game starts in 1836. Apparently the Belgians are much more liked in Sweden than Poles... ;)

Anyway, shall we start? What first? Countries? OOBs? I know that the polish community will help this mod, as soon as it starts for real.
Cheers

If you really want to get wild, code a program that will read where your country ended up in 1820 in EU2 and make that the starting point for Vicky? That way you can have 400 years to make your country a great power and then continue on for another 100 years. Does that make sense to anyone else but me?

Actually I would think 1815 would be the ideal starting date. 1820 is also a winner, with the Greek Revolution and all. And besides we can play Poland then

Wouldn't Congress Poland be a part of Russia in 1820 just as much as it would be in 1835? I'm really ignorant about early 19th century Polish history, so please excuse me for asking.

Anyway, I have begun tinkering with this Mod, and I want it to be compatible with the VIP as far as possible. Check out the AoN (1820-1920 mod for EU2) for what a 1820 start can be... Here!

To some extent after 1815, Poland enjoyed some rights as an officially recognized kingdom with the Russian emperor as king. He granted them a liberal constitution. Thus, Poland might be a satellite of Russia in the game if it started in 1815.
However, in 1830, the Poles led an insurrection and proclaimed independence. They were soundly defeated and harshly repressed.

Ah, I see. A bit like the Hungarians in the Habsburg empire, but less powerful. But starting the game in 1820 will still give the player 10 years to play Poland, and of course the option of NOT messing with Russia before Poland is ready for it. ;)
