1671 crash to desktop?

I am playing France 1.03 and it is 1671. I went to war with Austria and saved the game. Now wheever I reload I immediately CTD. I have tried to reload with autosave which saves annually and still get a CTD.
Has anyone else run across this? I really would like to pick up where I left off as I have to go back 30 years for the last prior save and that puts me back in the heart of the Dutch revolts which gave me such grief. I can reload if I go back to that save by the way.

Is no-one reading before they post today?

Open the .eug file in any text editor. Find the "selectable=" line on the first page. Delete all country TAGS on that line except the one for the country you are playing. Save and exit. You are done.
