I played Fantasia today and soon got bored of it and typed in columbus and looked at the rest of the world. Switching through the regions i discovered two! gold mines in the heart of Africa occupied by the Songhai.
Well i overlooked that to now. I set out finding out who gains those gold mines in 1617 or 1700 scenario and guess who! Marocco the dangerous superpower occupied it.
Is this historical?

Yep sure is. Don't believe Morocco was some weak power waiting to be conquered. They were a strong state on many the same level as europe until the mid 1800s when one of their sultans severed contact with Europe at the bidding of a religious advisor. Until then they interfered and annexed lands down in Mali and Ghana. Quite a splendid state, Morocco. :)

I especially love how Morocco marched an army across the Western Sahara and then fought and destroyed a Songhaian (sp?) army like 4x bigger than them and then conquered a large area of West Africa

Meh. Not when you colonize all the provinces of Europe, cause about 20 government collapses, and release anyone else you can. Then, go into the files and give them all fantasia AI, and take the role of mecklemburg or some other single province nation.

If the gold mines are the ones in Bambuk and Bure, then no this isn't historical. Bambuk and Bure were not actually near Timbuktu at all. Go figure on their location in EU2.
