so i noticed that you can change the starting/ending dates in the scenarios. If i change the ending day to todays date, will it work or will there be some sort of engine meltdown that occurs at 1821?

Won't work!
You can try the unlimited time patch. The link is in a sticky in the editing forum.

But IIRC it won`t allow you to play till 2002 anyway, not using the normal victory-mode.
btw, what`s the point of it? ur technology isn`t improving anymore so the game won`t be realistic after say 1850....

There's a hard-coded limit that you'll run up against.

Are you not maxed out in your techs by then!
You can also start early, which works much better.

hmm, isn`t that exactly what I said? ;) And yes, when you start earlier your tech isn`t improving till you get back into 1419 - kinda nice. And imo the game-engine is much better suited for pre-1419 than after-1820 games

Sorry, I read it as your tech does not improve anymore (from where it was at 1819). :(

well, i editted usa once in a game starting in 1419 ;) but i guess that`s not what you want...
as some peple said, the moctezuma patch could help in theory, but to my knowledge it doesn`t really support after 1819-playing (at least it didn`t in EU1, I haven`t use it in EU2)
IIRC The problem was that it allows you only to play mission-based scenario, and that for me at least usually ended before i even reached 1792 (starting in 1770 in EU1 again)

hmm, could you enlighten me how you change the scenario-mission for a particular country? I must admit that I have no idea....

is not like im dead set on playing to 2002, it was just a date i used to get my point across that i was wondering if play past 1820 is possible. sometimes i like to be a little obscure in the way i do things, it helps keep the mind from going crazy ya know.

American Empire

I don`t care about the technology not to improve. Its just I would like to play as USA for a long time to finish my expansionist plans. Is it possible to start in 1492 as US?
