So, we're compressing the dates? No more Napoleon, no more Byzantium? Or is it to be more linked with Crusader Kings and other titles?

Since EUIII will be the most modder friendly game Paradox has put out i am sure there will be a major mod to make it 1789-1836 or even the victory timeframe. Same with 1000-1453 time frame or so.

Maybe. But expanding (ie not changing) the timeframe has always had consiquences, especially if you try to expand it backwards.

I totally agree with the new time frame. 1453 is an excellent start year (after the fall of Constantinople, so the Ottoman AI should perform better; after the English have left France (sans Calais), so no more weird outcomes of the HYW).

The Napoleonic era would be an excellent topic for a separate game, or an expansion...
