Exactly. I've played Brandenburg a few times and never had any problems with becoming Prussia. And even before that I always had almost all the provinces of the Holy Roman Empire (if we count Swiss, Dutch and Italian ones as well:) ). I don't see a reason for giving oneself all these cores.

1. Brandenburg In The Hussite Wars(1419-1425)

The Years Of 1419-1425 were marked by several historicall events that changed Europe History.
By January, Russia Peace collapsed when Muscowy, Sweden and Denmark Declared war in Novgorod, in January. It power struggle for Russia started.
In February, Friedrich I of Brandenburg claimed the region of Silesia from Bohemia, saying that Silesia was rightfull Brandenburg's. Vaclav IV of Bohemia didn't say a word until April, when he refused to give any land to a fool german prince and warned Brandenburg of a possible War.

But, by August, Vaclav IV died , and the hussites rose to throne, however, the rivality was alive.

But, Internally, Brandenburg was growing, in July Trade Tech. reached level 1 and infra raised to 1 in September, soon Tax Collectors were built both in Brandenburg and Küstrin. A Royal Marriage happened with Austria too.
Brandenburg Neighbours weren't in peace. Poland and Lithuania invaded the region of Prussia and Pommern, wich were supported by Mecklemburg, Teutonic Order, Holstein and Bremen.

The Polish War, July 1419
However, the war didn't last much time, in August 1420, Poland Signed peace with Mecklemburg:

Fresh Money for the single Nation that didn't fight in The War
---
Back To Brandenburg, the next years(1420-1421) were really complicated, since the Bohemian Crisis was getting real serious, creating a real Political Crisis:

And,In 1421, the Most Important International Event of the years from 1419-1425 happened:
In April, The Byzantine Empire lost it cities in Morea, being reduced to the Sieged city of Constantinople. In The First Of Day Of May, the Walls finally Felt to the Ottomans, Emperor Manuel II and his family were executed in the next day. The Thousand-year Empire Of Byzantyum was over.

However, the most important fact for Brandenburg by this time was the end of the Political Crisis with Bohemia: It ended as every problem that can't be resolved by negociations: War.

The War and The Involved Countries

Friedrich I strategy was defend Berlin. He knew that Polish-Bohemian army was much powerfull that Brandenburg-Magdeburg...What was true. In April 2,000 Polish cavalary attacked Brandenburg , but fastly defeated by Brandenburg Efficient Army. The First Battle Of Brandenburg was won.
Two Months Later the things really changed: A Combined Polish-Bohemian Force:

A Really Difficult Battle

After Days Of Battle, the 15,000 enemy army was defeated, but it costed 10,000 of Brandenburg Man. Reinforcements were raised , but the money was starting to be reduced.
Poland changed the strategy: It Invaded Kustrin in October. Brandenburg Army, now reforced, invaded Kustrin to repel the enemy: Sucefull. However, Bohemian Forces invaded Berlin, again , Brandenburg army was victorious.
Animated, the army invaded Silesia, being victorious, but withouth sufficient forces to do a permanent siege, so the army returned, weaked. Reinforcements soon raised, and Silesia was again invaded, but after one week of siege, a very large Bohemian army attacked humilhanting Brandenburg army, no one returned from the bloody battle of Breslau(June 1423).
Friedrich I saw his hopes lost. With No Army, just a littl' one being raised, Brandenburg was vunerable.
Surprisely Gift of State happened in July:

The Event That Saved The War

In The Next Month, 2 thousand Polish man invaded Küstrin. The Collapse of Brandenburg was becoming reality.
But Friedrich I spent rightfull his fresh money: Spies were contracted and fastly they discovered that a real big Bohemian Army Was Marching to Berlin and another Polish army to Kustrin. Disisperated, Friedrich I had to offer 50.000 ducats for Peace(50d). Fortunally, Wladislaw II, Polish King and leader of the Polish-Lithuanian-Bohemian alliance, accepted.

The Next Two Years(1424-1425) was time to rebuild the Brandenburg Army and Economy, affected by the terrible War, after named 'The Hussite War'.

In Europe, 1424-1425 was time to 2 more nations disapear: The First was Savoy in 1424, divided by Milan and France, wich was becoming Strong, and winning the Hundred Years' War.
The Second was Pskov, wich was divided between Teutonic Order and Muscowy, that also won the war vs. Novgorod, becoming the Russian Potence.

Ah, the Hussite Wars... Such good fun they can be, especially in AGCEEP when you start w/ Bohemia, pick to go w/ the Hussites after Vaclav's death, kick the Austrians, Hungarians, and Romanist Bohemians around a bit with your kung-fu armies and superhero leader Jan Zizka, and loot most of their territory to finance your brutal struggle for religious freedom ;)

...But I digress. Hope you can rebound from your war w/ Poland and the gang quickly :)

Gifts of State always seem to come at just the right time, don't they? A real pity you don't get them more often, or every time you need them. Then again, that would take out one of the most challenging aspects of the game; I've had some real "fun" juggling EU2 finances before, although this was usually due to stupid decisions that I made (such as hiring a foreign drill instructor w/ less than 50d and being forced to take out three loans for it--had an event that reduced loans to 100d apiece; needless to say, my treasury was impoverished for most of the period and I went bankrupt after about 25 years and yet another loan--and right when I got dragged into another war, too  )

But I'm getting off topic again. Anyway, hope to see more of Brandenburg in the near future.

Duke of Wellington: Thanks, good to have you here :)

Specialist290: Yeah, EUII Finances are really Amazing. But withouth the 100d from the gift, I'd have enough money to offer than but I'd have like 15d for spending in future. Another War would Kill Me. Once , As France, In one of my first games in EUII I got a loan for a cathedral and I went bankrrupt because I forget the year of paying twice and the other three I was at war and didn't had any money. Or Losing War or losing economy. :S .... By The Way, I never played as Hussites, thats a good idea for a future game

Basileios I : It was really really Hard. When I saw the War Msg I taught: "God, I'm FU***D! I taught it again when I lost in Silesia, wasn't really cool.

Ouch. I've heard of gang wars, but from what I've just now read on BBC, the situation in Brazil seems almost ridiculous... except it's really happening :(

I hope you and yours manage to come out unscathed.

Yeah, It looks like ridicolous.

Today the rebellion reached the extreme point, nobody can leave home from 8PM on(It's 7:55 now). Also, another bandits are taking the opportunities, burning buses, firing banks and the commerce. Most Of The Schools and universities aren't going to work tomorrow.

However, in the morning, the rebellion was in 55 jails, now , by 5PM , just 19.
Maybe Tomorrow tomorrow it turn back into normally.

But This Event show how much Brazil is vunerable to the gangs such as PCC, that is doing the rebellion.,

2.Peacefull Years(1425-1440)

The Period from 1425 to 1440 was marked by the Final Part of the Reign of Friedrich I from the dinasty of Hohenzollern.
It was generally a period of cortubance mainly in France, but peacefull years for the people of Brandenburg.

The Conturbance in Europe started when Lithuania declared War vs. Muscowy, that was winning the prestige in Russia before Lithuanian. This War, known as the "War Of Russian Prestige" lasted for like 10 years.

After the recover of the Brandenburg Economy from the Hussite War, merchants were soon sent to Mecklemburg, the main trade center in Northen Germany. And for years on, the Brandenburg's merchants disputed the power in the CoT there.
Also, in 1427, Cyprus decided to share it explorations with Brandenburg, wich discovered the countries in Iraq and nations by, also the sea between Arabia and India.

This new lands plus the excellent merchants sent to Mecklemburg, and more, inflation control, transformed the Year of 1428 one of the best in Brandenburg History!

However, The Next years wouldn't be so good. The Merchantile dispute in Mecklemburg became harder, mainly between Brandenburg, Mecklemburg, Sttetin. Also, some nobles were alling with the Realm Of Sweden, fact that prejudiced Friedrich I.

In 1433, Friderich I of Brandenburg and his friend Gunter I of Magdebug had a reunion in Berlin, where Friedrich demanded the annexation of the duchy of Magdeburg givin Gunther the title of Count and governor of the region and becoming also the foreign minister, since Aachen, the old one, died in 1432.
Gunther accepted.

By These Times, in EUrope, things were changin': Portugal cancelled it vassalization with Castille, ending with the dream of an unite Iberia. In The Other hand, Bavaria became vassal of Austria.
But the strangest thing was about to happen. In 1433 the Hussites became catholic!

In France, the things were really burning, after winning much wars, such as conquering almost all Ireland during 1433 and annexing Brytanny in 1435, France received a big list of enemies:

Obviosly, Charles VII of France couldn't control so many enemies, having to give up much provinces, having to give up many provinces:

Back To Brandenburg, in 1437, the main Friedrich I enemy ended, with the end of Hussites, going back to Sigismund.
However, Friderich I wasn't able enough to live much years withouth his main enemy. In September , 1440, Friedrich I died, and his son, Friedrich II rose to the Brandenburg Throne:

That's not a problem. Nice to see a slower, more leisurely pace. Also I had to smile to see France so dismembered. alas, they will probably win most of it back.
