I played the original simcity when it was released on an Amiga. Do any of you young uns even know what an Amiga was?

Usually on the back of the box of every commodore 64 game they showed the Amiga version pics, sadly Pappa Leermeister bought a commodore 128 instead because it was compatible with the commodore 64 we already had. :(
instead of the colorful sim city i played the one above. Throughout my child hood i recall looking at Amiga graphics on the back of the box of games only to be disappointed to see what it was on the commodore 64.

And i always thought, when i grow up id buy an Amiga. But instead i bought an 'IBM Compatible', here in this confusing modern world.

You had a neglected childhood if you did not get an Amiga!!!!!

Ha, 12 years ago I was in grad school. I have played this to death. The only real competitors for time played came from Paradox (particularly EU2 and 3), and Sims 2.

Yes, I know what an Amiga is. No, I didn't have one as a child. I had Pong, Space Invaders, and Centipede. Down at the video gaming hall. Now get off my lawn!

Sim City 4 was the first electronics-related game I remember playing (It was so long ago I don't remember exactly when I started, all I know is that the maxis & original SC4 websites were still around at the time)

Hopefully C:SL will last as long

Is that the Boston map? I don't think that's San Francisco...

(I got SimCity not long after it came out. I was five.)

Also, I remember IBM Compatibles...and remember asking my dad why you didn't just buy an IBM if you needed it to be compatible.

Looks very similar to the first version of SC I played too, was on the Commodore 64. For those that know of its significance, I also played Raid on Bungling Bay on the C64, being the game that inspired Will Wright to create SC.

12 Years ago I was 31....but I started playing games at a young age, I dont remember exactly when but it was around late 1979, early 1980. Man things sure have changed in city builders, games overall, and technology in general too.

I played the C64 version of the original SC, and also played it on its original Macintosh release too, my brother had one of their first laptops, which of course took up and 2-3 laps in reality :).

Yeah, it was that computer that was far less popular than its predecessor the C64. Admittedly the Amiga was better than the average PC at the time and quite good even compared to the Apple Mac's of the period...but like the BETA and VHS the better system doesn't always win.

Yeah i had bungeling bay, played it alot. actully looks alot better then SC, because SC was just the bungeling bay editor he used to make Bungeling Bay with.
Will Wright says the little boats actually collect resources in Bungling bay and then take them to ports on the islands for the factories to use. And the amount of resources they collect is how many jets, anti aircraft, tanks, ect the bungling empire can build... and its battleship its making.
I never knew that till recently, game has a simple little economy. was never mentioned in the manual or anything. There is a presentation somewhere that will wright gave about it.

Anyway spent first half of my childhood on a commodore 64

raid_on_bungeling_bay_05.gif

Bungling Bay (commodore 64) the father of sim city.
