Hi All,
I have been away from games for 3 months while working on my Phd. I finally have a week off and am smashing out some serious hours on Crusader Kings 2. I need some help.

I have recreated the roman empire and it is 1240. Coolest game ever! My duke in Jerusalem has rebelled against me and has 110k men in a single stack and has killed my 30k stacks. I saw his large army and ran away for 3 months in order to wait for his army to shrink, which did not happen. His army is actually reinforcing men! He has two other stacks of 50k who also have no attrition. The provinces he is in can only take from 14-29k with no attrition.
WTF is going on?

As said, it's a bug. It'll probably be fixed in the upcoming patch.

Fortunately, you can avoid his army entirely if you're clever about it. Bait him about the countryside with a small, mobile force and use your main army to burn down his provinces. If he comes after you with his doomstack, escape via the sea.

I'm not sure it's a bug. The faction member who receives it receives an event and apparently it scales to about the size of the liege's max retinue. Horribly overpowered and needs to be nerfed hard, but not a bug to be fixed.

The simple answer is beat them on the field. If you can not defeat them, then they win the war.

I do not think it is a complete bug, but there could be a scaling issue with large empires. I have never had this issue and I have had battles of 180kVs180k which are awesomely fun and can yield much death to your enemies or to you.

It goes to the meaning of the word 'bug'. There is no evidence to suggest this isn't the developers intention (its an event, it works, no strange numbers), although they may not have fully thought through the consequences. Balance issues are not necessarily bugs. People tend to get sensitive because other people tend to to overuse the word (its not a bug if you lose, it is a bug if your game crashes or hangs or is otherwise unplayable).

The actual doom stacks are not a bug, they are there so that rebelling vassals have a possible chance of winning, and they are as necessary as the factions system. Scaling of doom stacks may need tweaks, although I think they seem to be fine, sometimes they win, sometimes the liege wins.
The actual bug seems to be attrition. I can't think of any other time in any game paradox has made where an army is immune to attrition, (the national focus in EU3 that halved attrition is kinda close). I can't think of a reason to do it here, but honestly, whatever makes rebellions actually dangerous is fine by me*.

*Except for "realm duress" in CK I. Just awful.

it is certainly NOT a bug, but i dont think its WAD. main problem probaly is that even the count of malta can get this event, even when he's the worst d*ck ever lived and you are a saint. malta doeasnt have enough poulation to raise such a stack, nor would so much people flock to his banners. also, because it scales with retinue size(which isnt right, as 110k cap doesnt mean 110k troops, while it does for hte event) you get a even worse stack.

I don't think they're necessary part of factions system. When a faction gets big enough to field a competitive number of troops compared to its liege THEN it should declare war, and any other factions should probably have a go at the same time. Small rebellions becoming stupidly hard to beat isn't "fun". Single dukes shouldn't be able to successfully rebel vs an otherwise stable empire.

This event simply shouldn't exist now that the faction system does. Really shouldn't have in the first place. It's not as if rebellions were impossible before or anything, I remember in a much earlier build I was the Duke of York and got virtually every single lord in England to rebel and help me seize the throne pretty easily.

Everyone should suffer attrition no matter what. Just give bonus. Like a 3x supply limit bonus or something. 200K troops in a 5K supply limit county is ridiculous. That is what is happening with Mongols, decadence revolts, and faction wars.

Also I dont think before 1.07 that the Mongols had there super stacks. I always remember them having several smaller stacks 25-50k troops not 150K stacks.

Well they even have special DLC adding yet another. So no, as it stands they still haven't got the message re attritionless doomstacks in general. Whether they get the message about any poodunk count getting an attritionless doomstack just for starting a faction and sending a letter is technically another question.

I'm not sure it's a bug. The faction member who receives it receives an event and apparently it scales to about the size of the liege's max retinue. Horribly overpowered and needs to be nerfed hard, but not a bug to be fixed.

Rebelling faction members getting volunteer troops isn't the problem, no. Those volunteering peasants coming in ludicrous numbers of heavy infantry that somehow manage to survive in the wilderness as well as the Mongols? That is your bug right there.
