Moving the startdate to december would mean that Harlad Hardraade Sigurson (or Harald Yngling as he is called in the game), would be dead. Hope you include this. Another problem that arises is who should be king of Norway. Olav (not Olaf as the game seems to think) or his brother Magnus. Historically it was both. Any thoughts?

Personally I think it's ok as it is, with Olaf as king. Historically, Magnus died early leaving Olaf with the throne alone.

The county of Thessalonike of Byz's should be richer. It is I think the poorest province of Byzantine balkans, something that it was not true. Its main city Thessalonike was refered as the town that regned jointly with Constantinopole. Of course this is not true, but gives the importance of the city (and the province of course). In 1.01 has income only of 1! I hope it get fixed!

Correct, Magnus died in 1069. But while we are at the subject of Norway, the capital is definitly wrong. It should be in Trøndelag not Akershus. In the Game, Magnus is Duke of Trøndelag, but historicly the King himself ruled from Trondheim in Trøndelag.

Actually, I believe he ruled from Bergen, a city he founded.

Reread the Olav Kyrre's saga in Snorre but can't find any references to what you are saying. The major city in Norway at that time was Trondheim and I still belive the king ruled from here, as his ancestors did.

I'm probably confusing "founded" with "ruled from" then...

I forsee two problems with this Trondheim dicussion. One there is already a perfectly good count of Trondhiem there. Would you want to be the one to tell him that his services are no longer required? Two thanks to our dynamic capiltal location system (tm) there is absolutly no guarantees that the Capital will stay in Trondhiem if we put it there.

Yeah sure I'll tell him. He shouldn't be duke of Trøndelag, 'cause he is Magnus, King of Norway (joint King it might be, but still King).

So I understand, and I don't have a big problem with this (it may seem so 'cause I appear to nag about this all the time :) ) I'll just modify my own scenariofile to reflect how I think it should be (Harald dead, Magnus dead or at least a health of -1 or whatever the lowest value are. I'll also research the other vassals).

About that correction to the scenario being prepared in the beta forum: Is there any chance it will include the renaming of the Duchy of Braganza? (too late to fix the spelling of the province to Bragança, I guess :)) The Duchy of Bragança was only created well after 1400. The town itself didn't even exist in 1066, as it was only founded in 1187... Renaming it to something else, like Duchy of Porto, Portugal, or Portucale would be good. Other alternatives, like Duchy of Guimarães, would also serve quite nicely.

Other changes to the setup in the portuguese area could later include Sesnando Davides, count of Coimbra, his wife Loba Nunes, daughter of Nuno Mendes (who is the Duke of Braganza in the setup, I gather). Possibly even Sesnando's daughter Elvira Sisnandes and her husband Monio Fromarigues. (I'll also have to look up some families, like the Costa, Silva, Maia, Sousa and Ribadouro, for the possibility of finding some more courtiers to the nobles in Portugal. :D)

Reminds me of the interminable Portugal - 1066 discussions held all the time in beta... :D

And after all those discussions you still managed to get the spelling of Bragança wrong... :p

If it's such a widely discussed subject, any chance of filling me in on who the guy serving as count of Coimbra was? I don't think I found anything about the guy. (would telling me some historical data you might've picked up in the beta forum a breach of NDA?)

I didn't participate in those discussions very much - you'll need to talk to the Iberian betas.

If you want to, post any information you find wrong or lacking. Any information on historical characters, Portugal or elsewhere, will of course be welcome. For each character, if you could give names, dates of birth (and death, if before 1066), titles, and relationships to other characters, it would be most useful. Also include deceased characters a generation of so back if they have decendents living in 1066. So giving information on the deceased parents of the Count of Coimbra would be helpful (as they would have living decendents in 1066), but there's no need to list dead people who did not have decendents living in 1066.

As for erroneous map names, as you probably know, once they are set, they can't be changed...

Is it a single guy in his thirties at the start?

I think so. A single, parentless, courtierless (?) person in his 30s with a name slightly atypical for an XI century portuguese, is the impression I got from Mork's screenshot. Just a fill in?

Well, if I have seen nothing from Paradox on Saturday, I will make an update with the following things:
- Move Bari to Byzantine Empire and add small castle if needed. I don't think that I'm motivated to do the work make it a county, so it will be added as imperial demense.
- Fix the Steiermark CTD bug I spotted in the Bug forum.
- Someone mentioned somewhere in the forum that Thessalonike was its own themata, so I should make it a direct vassal of the emperor.
- Remove the three duplicate german characters.
