Hey Guys,

I was just thinking, seeing as The Hundred Years War is no longer ongoing during the start of the campaign, that the text for the 1444 European Bookmark should maybe be altered slightly. In the text it says that the west is 'embroiled in the hundred years war'. In fact in the 'Kingdoms of the East bookmark' the Hundred Years War is also referenced to. This seems slightly silly as the hundred years war is not actually going on when the game starts. Although in theory when the truce end hostilities should start again straight away, this doesn't always happen in game.

Another point which is related to this subject is how England very often seems to keep some land in France. I don't mind it too much but I find it a little odd when England still controls Gascogne or something similar by 1700. In a way I sort of preferred it when the Hundred Years War was ongoing at the start of the campaign, even if it was slightly historically inaccurate.

Well I believe the game considers HYW going on as long as England has provinces in France so it kinda is going on at tje game start.

Also I suck at history but wasn't HYW multiple wars with truces in between so nothing wrong here.

The HYW is still ongoing, it's just in a truce period in 1444.

In the hundred years war, not a single day passed in that one hundred year period without at least one frenchman boshing an english chap or some English gent shooting an arrow through some poor french sods head.

On the days when there was a possibility that the whole day would pass without a fatality on either side, they would draw lots and throw the unlucky loser down a well. Just to ensure the war continued.

Why would you think that HYW lasted 116 years nonstop? It was series of conflicts and tensions, because it also had proxy wars I like think it as somewhat similar to the Cold War.

Yes I know that it wasn't a continuous war with some truces lasting longer than 20 years. I'll agree that actually the text probably doesn't need any changing. My main point should really be that the war between England and France occasionally doesn't continue in game which it probably should do. I know we don't want historical railroading but the restarting of conflict between the two was inevitable.

Also although there are some similarities between Cold War and the Hundred Years' War you can't really compare them. The USSR and U.S. never went directly to war against each other at all. This is certainly not the case in the Hundred Years' War which was mostly a direct conflict between France and England.

I always see it happen way or another, maybe it takes bit longer than historically, but that is actually playable Henry VI wanted to extend truce, but because they refused to give up Maine France was forced to continue war, also I didn't really compare them I just said that I found them somewhat similar.
