I feel like this thread has done a good job of answering already, but here are some replies...
So anyway, think about the human on the other side.
Usually we don't really talk about stuff until its mostly done, or at least done to a level where we know we don't have to toss it or the like because its not funThat means a lot of work will be done way before you even tell anybody what you are currently working on.
We listen, a lot. Assuming it wasn't some history wipe when we upgraded the forum I cant find any posts from you outlining what kind of fixes you would like to see or what kind of features you like. So maybe start there instead of a post essentially calling devs lazy.We buy almost everything they sell in pre-order. We accept the things they paint. But do they listen to us on game improvements? I doubt.
Diaries do take a fair amount of time as you said, and we never really got anything positive out of "filler" ones. Which is why we started only posting diaries when we had new stuff to show or important updates to share.I see it more as a case of the devs giving people what they want. If "filler" dev diaries, as the devs call them, are unpopular, they're going to stop making them. It frees up time for other tasks, at least.
If anyone missed it I had a diary the other week here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/hoi4-dev-diary-new-year-update.1453130/From what I recall, they basically defined the next DLC as being around summer time. So that should give you a pretty good sense for expectations as far as a release schedule. Maybe there is a real patch updated in between now and that DLC, but that is unlikely.
Overall, I think the pandemic has had a far greater impact on Paradox's release schedule for all of their titles than we initially believed.
Aye its unfortunate. We live in a world where empathy on the internet is getting rarer and rarer and its up to each and every one to take that extra ounce of effort in imagining the actual person on the other side reading the message. People you write to on these forums are not hired to filter through the cesspool and give non-comittal marketing drone answers, but are devs who take precious time away from working on a game, or their spare time. How would you feel about a random person on the internet writing you a message like that about your job? (and its a lot more than a job for most of us). There is a very odd entitlement that comes with the Pseudo-anonymity that is an internet forum. People will communicate in ways they would never do so in person. Not limited to this situation by any stretch, but it is unfortunate none the less.
So anyway, think about the human on the other side.
