Missions where the main objective is to build your army are very arbitrary and depending on what choices you make throughtout the game can set you back quite a lot.
Now with version 1.30 where mercenaries have changed building up to your force limit often results in building an new army just to delete it later because you can't afford the upkeep. This wastes valuable manpower reserves, you would rather keep. As a example where this becomes a problem, the Muscovy mission 'Invade Novgorod'. In order to complete this mission you need to build up to 100.0% force limit. It will give you claims on Novgorod. You can wait around for many years before you can even afford to have such a large army or even worse never complete this mission at all because your army force limit increases to an unreasonable amount because of varius modifiers or development.
I do not think that these types of misions make the game more enjoyable. Rather for the example with the Muscovy mission, would i have something like. Have a greater army than Novgorod.
