1 Week until Utopia

Do you star a New Game? Do you Play Mods like Star Trek Mod or Warhammer40k Mod? Do you wait the week without playing Stellaris? Are you hyped?

for me this is a hard Week. im so fixed on Utopia i´m Hot as a Player can be.

I haven't played the game till shortly after Leviathans which was nice but also mildly disappointing, Utopia sounds almost like a complete overhaul (or at least an overhaul of many of the things I found bland/unengaging) and I am very much looking forward to it.

Waiting for 3 weeks or so after Utopia is released. Need to wait for the inevitable first two hotfixes and patch so the game is free of the worst hiccups, then we can enjoy the new expansion

It's been 4 months.
Days upon days of speculation and eager anticipation.
Then we got the reveal and it was 'just 6 more weeks'.

And now it's just 7 more days.

I can reasonably see I haven't been hyped like this for quite a few years. Let's hope Utopia delivers.

As Stellaris is still new to me, I'll keep farting around with 1.4 for another two or three days. After that I plan on returning to CK2 until Utopia is released. Once Utopia/Banks is up and running the real game learning process begins.

I haven't played Stellaris once this year I think, but I've been hanging around the forums and the subreddit eagerly following every diary and Twitter teaser. I'm on an EU IV kick right now but I'll definitely be dropping that next week to pick Stellaris back up for a while. I really hope Utopia lives up to most of the hype, but Banks itself looks like it's going to be fantastic.

I have some old saves since 1.1. I will try to load and see if the game will crazy.

I'm kinda glad I only got into Stellaris in the last couple of weeks. To have played the base game up to 1.4 would have been fun but limiting. However, to have Utopia/1.5 just around the corner makes me feel like I'm getting on board at the right time i.e. 30 hours farting around with basics in 1.4 and then onto the new, and hopefully, improved version

Is there any official statement how already created empires will be translated into the new system? Or do I have to recreate all my custom empires and select their starting civics manually?

I'd guess you'd need to start again. Empire ethics and what makes up a Govt (Authority+Civics) are all changing/new. Hard to see how you could continue to use a custom empire. But that's only an opinion.

Your empires will still be on the list but cannot be selected or spawned until you choose civics for them.

If you load a 1.4 saved game, all AI nations will instantly select civics and the player will be able to reform their government to do the same.
