So after days of grinding... this newbie thought he'd form the Roman Empire. I started out as Florence and formed Italy. Forming Italy was my whole goal with the campaign but since it was going so good i decided to try and form the Roman Empire. I went east and took as much as i could before having to face the Ottomans. Made an alliance with a super strong France who had eaten half of Spain and with them eventually destroyed the Ottomans. After a while i managed to claim Poland's throne who had a PU over Lithuania, as usual. Yolo'd it and went to war alone against them. Luckily the AI isn't very smart and i managed to carpet siege half of both Poland and Lithuania. They gave up after about 50% warscore and after that the game was easy. Ate away on the Ottomans while breaking the alliance with France. After i took down the Ottomans on my own i felt like i had it in the bag. Destroyed France and took provinces from OPM's that i needed by threatening war. Made a vassal in Spain, Catalonia, that i fed France's provinces to. Eventually i started running short on time, 30 years or so left. That's when when my colonies in North America wanted Independence, Catalonia was quick to join them. I didn't really care about my colonies but the fact that Catalonia joined them broke the annexation that was currently ongoing. Ended up with me starting war after war, taking the stability loss and war exhaustion just to make it in time. I finish eating up France and then my vassal, who very much didn't want to be my vassal after i declared war on them a couple of times. A billion rebels spawned but i got everything needed with like 1.5 years left. Hover over the decision and it says i have everything except for owning all provinces in Mashiq. Turns out that in all haste, i didn't take Ma'an from the Ottomans... 1 small damn province...

I obviously had to declare war on the Ottomans even though i had a huge coalition target on my head.

A minor inconvenience... Thought it was pretty funny.

After i accepted all demands in frustration...

Welp, starting over as Castile right away. Hope you found some pleasure in my failure and agony.

Sorry if i posted it in the wrong place, i'm a newbie and first time on the forums.

The only purpose in playing a game is having fun. As long as you had fun you did great.
Certainly the AI demands for peace were pretty harsh..

Out of curiosity why did you expand into eastern Europe rather than conquering the whole Mediterranean area? I find much easier to conquer the weak maghreb nations and Egypt than expanding as much as you did in central Europe. Moreover north African regions offer resources like spices and sugar.

Perhaps you should accept the rebel demands faster.. “Italian Poland, Italian Anatolia, Italian Iberia, Italian France”. A bit border gorey but then again EU4 is basically a painting simulator to some :p
Well, at least you retained some of your holdings so if it wasn’t iron man you could’ve expanded after 1821.
Also, what was the OE like to get that many rebels?

Yea i had quite a lot of fun and it was a good learning experience. Well, up until the last years at least... x)
I actually didn't choose to expand that much into central Europe, i mostly got provinces from wars i got called into by the AI.I could probably have gone south if i wanted to but never appealed to me for some reason. Gonna try it now as Castile tho. :)

Yea i accepted the rebel demands out of frustration/for fun since the game was ending in just a few months. ;)
I feel like continuing past 1821 is kinda like cheating tho, that it takes away from the core design of the game... The very same thought crossed my mind tho...
My OE must've been around 200% or something. I honestly don't remember, didn't pay much attention to it either, just accepted the rebels would flood my empire in exchange for the land needed to form the Roman Empire.

well... if you wanted achivement then you still needed to have all coastal provinces so...

I didn't care for the achievement tbh. My goal was to form Italy and control that area. When it went better than expected i set my goal on forming the Roman Empire. Didn't mention it in the post but i haven't formed it before and it's probably the coolest nation you can form in my eyes. But thanks for the info, i'll keep it in mind. :)

yea ironic but italy is not best nation to form roman empire :p Same for byzantium XD reason is aggresive expansion and starting low devolpment :p
only advantage italy has is can hold rome as catholic but... you still dont want to hold rome as catholic because pope hates you this time :D

I managed to take Rome quite early and have The Papal State move to the province inside the France territory, forgot it's name. They were a bit mad at me for a short while but i was catholic the whole game.

Got PU's over both Aragon, Naples and England in my new game at around 1510, so hopefully i'll have a smoother run for it this time around. :p
