Weeh, first post in EUI forum!

Bought it a few hours ago and played it for the first time.. and it sure isn't HOI1/2/DD. :)

I have a really busy schedule ahead of me so I've not really found it worth buying EUII while waiting for my EUIII-CE :)D) copy to arrive, but shelling out a buck just for the smell and feel of a new (well.. in a sense :p ) PI-game is a nobrainer!

Finally I can experience firsthand what the ruckus about COT's is about...

EDIT: I'm running IGC 2.3 and the Enhanced AI, anything else I need before I get down and dirty with EUI?

EU1 for a buck... You can not beat that...

I'd go through the tutorial. IIRC EU1's tutorial is kinda..well...boring, but it'll answer some questions for you.

I know there's an EU2 wiki. Is there an EU1 one?

Also, go through the game hints.

Maybe do an internet search. Manuals turn up in some weird places sometimes :(

Kudos Nikolai! Yep got IGC (and AI Enhancment) installed alright, getting M(J)VM took a few minutes extra - but I've got everything running like a charm! Never played a EU game before, but between HOIx, CK and reading lots on the EUIII forum I'm figuring it out. :)

Best 1€ gameplay I ever had... :D

Too bad that EU1 forum is not so popular anymore. I play EU1 when i get bored on Eu2 (lol) and when my HoI games are not currently available

Lord Finn - when is your HoI unavailable? Are you into MP? But yeah, it is nice with a game where taking South America as a minor before Spain does it is actually a challenge ;)

Yes, you can.
For zero bucks! :p

General Feedback of 1$ EU :)

Bought EU for 1$ from Gamers Gate, as observed, Gamers Gate is doing it for promotion I guess to make the first time users use the service without commiting large sums. I found it to be quite good, the doenload went fine & the installer also worked fine. I was after EU-III, but will wait for sometime before buying that, EU seems to be a good game, I have only played HoI2 & CK before this, the setting up of colony thing is great :)

1$? It's absurd! How can they expect us to fork up that kind of money without even a under-avatar medal? :p

Anyhow, if this is still valid, it should probably get more visibility on GG. I just went and checked it, and it's not imidiatly noticable. If it where, you'd probably have more people creating acounts just for it, and then that could evolve...

Just my 2cents

That is an interesting idea, but as you can see the game doesn't necessarily work all that well on all machines, and it doesn't showcase the latest in the Paradox engine, so it might be a better deal for those wishing to see where it all came from, rather than something to bring in new gamers to the fold.

That said, $1 is a very good deal since it's no real loss if Windows decides to not like the game, and it still is a very good (timeless, even) game well worth playing. So having it available is a nice gesture, and.. hmm..

I just recalled other retro games repackaged in a more expensive way (Space Quest series) and how they claimed to have updated them to modern windows. Then it turned out that they simply packaged it together with DosBox, the "Old-Windows Emulator" - I wonder if that could be a solution to get the game to work where it otherwise would not.. perhaps I should try to test it.

Anyway, first page space is a finite resource, even on infinite canvas, so I doubt that EU1 for $1 will show up in a much more prominent position.. unless there is an anniversary ;)

Just get Kane & Lynch out - that game's reputation's dead since the whole reviewer-fired-for-bashing-it scandal :p

Can anyone post any screenshots? Or point me in the direction of some?

And where are the AARs you speak of? I couldn't find any! :(

I'm interested in it, but since I'm not fully convinced I ever played the original EU, it'd be interesting to see, so I can decide whether I should clog up my (rather pathetic/over-full) machine with this game! :)

Sure! :)

Following the link above in the main EU1 forums takes you to the Main AAR forums, where the EU1 AAR forum is a subforum to the EU3 AAR forum.

Direct Link to the EU1 AAR forums, in case you get lost. ;)

Then this AAR http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12009 has screenshots in this place -> http://www.angelfire.com/games3/redplanet/wwswe/wwswe.html

And this is my EU1 AAR, sadly interrupted, but I thought it was fun :D http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25934

Cool, thanks! The graphics don't look all that different to EU2... What's the catch, though? Can someone post (perhaps in a different thread) the difference between playing EU2 and EU1? Possibly? Pretty please? :)
