Well if we're comparing vacation benefits here.
I live in the USA. I don't think I've ever had a job that's given me any sort of "vacation". Currently I'm doing "seasonal" work at food processing plant. I can theoretically request days off, although, I haven't yet, but I plan to put in a request to see a band play in September. I have however gotten into trouble in the past for calling in sick too much (I've had a lot of trouble with major depressive disorder since junior/senior year of highschool. Going on 10+ years now, and it has impacted every single job I've had up to this point in a tremendously negative manner.) This week I expect I'll get Sunday off (they try to give us Sundays off if they can since it's automatic overtime if not.) Sometimes we work 7 days a week, some weeks we don't work at all, it just depends how much product they have to run I guess. Unfortunately there's little rhyme or reason to it so you can't really plan things around work in advance (unless you just plan on working). I recently just completed an undergrad degree in history with a Spanish minor, so I'm hoping I can at least land a job somewhere behind a desk at some point in the future, and with that some vacation days.
Reality is though, I really couldn't afford to take more days off, even if it was an option. This month I'm 2 weeks late with the rent since last month we didn't work for an entire week (therefore no pay day) and being one week late meant that this weeks check had to go to a more immediate priority: car insurance. As obviously (or maybe not so obvious to you Europeans and your lovely public transport systems) no car means no work.
I'm really just counting on a bit of luck to find something better than the minimum wage bs I've been bouncing around for the last decade or so, since my student loan payments start becoming an unavoidable thing in December. After all, the only way out of those is death right? I guess that would be where my penchant for depressive behavior comes in handy. Personally, I have no problem screwing over the holders of capital in my society. I'd just be returning the favor.
