So tired of accidentally causing one of my subjects or allies downfalls late game because I gave them too much stuff in peace

especially since with the change in rebels and CN's don't auto core you can get HUGE rebellions in the america because you took too much stuff for your ally in the cheap peace deal

I agree in principle, but I think that's too much information for the player.

Instead, subjects and allies should show a red thumbs-down in the new peace screen whenever they would get too much OE in a peace deal.

Sounds reasonable for allies, but not for subjects. Probably a good idea to not let you give land to allies they can't core either (however given how buggy coring distance can be I wouldn't want the same restriction on subjects). I would still have to deal with their rebels if I fed them too much anyways.

Subjects will show a red thumbs down already for OE I believe. I fed about 130% OE to a vassal who was already running 20 percent OE and they had the thumbs down on the peace screen.

I think part of the problem is that the thumbs up or down are fairly easy to miss. I know that I often forget about them despite having the icons literally in my face.

I too think this should be shown somewhere in the text describing the effects of the peace deal; even if I add up the amount of overextension the provinces I'm giving them would be, sometimes they may already have overextension I didn't know about.

And there's no reason to obfuscate this from the player - it is possible to calculate this on your own, just tedious - you have to check each province they currently own to see if it's cored or not, if it's not, calculate the amount of overextension this gives them (and remember to account for their administrative efficiency based on tech level, which you can see) to determine how much they already have. Showing us how much overextension they would have as a result of the peace only simplifies this process and prevents us from having to manually check each current province and add any non-cored provinces to the total we're giving them.

To see the current OE check the unrest of one of their provinces.
This.

Of course, it would be good if the information was also conveniently presented in the peace screen - just like it would be good if the peace screen showed your current level of overextension, not just the amount by which your overextension will increase.

I think this should be in the peace deal description. For each country that gets any provinces, it should say "This will add x% Overextension to country Y, bringing their Overextension to z% total."

It's clearly a hassle to only see the OE indirectly through the unrest modifier in your vassals province.
Which is even worse after gaining Adm. Efficiency late game.

Whatever they change, you need to know the OE your vassal will have to deal with when you multi-select provinces for them in the peace deal.

I wouldn't go so far to have this:
"This will add x% Overextension to country Y, bringing their Overextension to z% total."
Just add the sum OE for every nation that receives land.

1. Ally with France and go to war against someone just far enough;
2. Give France some random, land-locked provinces they will never be able to core;
3. France gets permanent overextension plus a lot of their units, likely over support limit, are trapped inside of small blue islands.
4. Repeat twice or trice and cripple the BBB forever.
5. Break alliance and proceed to the next great power.

There's like 50.000 exploits in PI's games you can use because they base their games' mechanics mostly on magic and ridiculous arbitrary decisions. It really takes a lot of strong will not to abuse all of such things.

This is also a way of getting provinces AE-free. Give landlocked provinces to your allies and they will sell it as long as you have the claim.

Does that work if you forge the claim after the fact, i.e., after you've given them the province in the peace deal?
