I also watched the video and learned a lot and will use it in my next play through.
just one question, what is the difference between portas and secrets training style?
I believe Secret Master builds a greater width training unit, possible 40w, or possibly 40w and 20w. With no support, if the width is close you don’t take a big hit on experience when you convert to a different template. Secret Master posted a how to, and you end up saving time compared to building an armored unit directly.

porta80 your video was fantastic.

I was surprised at how much of a difference the output efficiency of free trade made. I noticed it mostly with how quickly the build up of ships for the Kreigsmarine compared to the default law with similar amounts of NIC.

Glad to hear.
Free trade is additional 10% on paper, but just like ~7% in total That's how hoi math with additional modifiers for production etc. Work. But its also ~7% research time and a little construction speed, the combination of all makes it so strong.

HOI4 1.9.3 SP Germany 1936

My beginning Army setup involves converting the MOT DIV to a LARM DIV. I then convert three INF DIV to MTN DIV. Giving me four of each.
I then disband all remaining DIV.
I create a "Training Brigade" consisting of a single INF BDE. I then recruit 96 x 2 of these brigades and deploy them once they reach 20% training.
This gives me the ability to Volunteer up to ten (seven for SCW) DIV. ARM and MTN are great in Ethiopia, Spain, and China.
(by rotating GEN and FM I end up with two FM and eight GEN with level 6 experience).
Every six months I convert 24 TNG BDE into INF DIV. I convert 8 TNG BDE into ARM DIV.
After Anschluss, I convert those seven to nine units into six MAR and the balance into MTN.
I usually need to hit Extensive Conscription (5%) in 1938.
In post Sea Lion and pre Barbarossa, I start converting the INF DIV into 40W and recruiting 20w MARM DIV.

Wow - Warsaw in 23 hours! 9 Oct. 1936, Poland Kaput five days later. Having fully staffed and equipped Divisions makes a difference!

114CIC, 102MIL, 27NIV, 1900 lvl 7 FTR, 3600 LARM.

Thank you very, very much for all the tips, planning, and testing. And patience, especially the patience... After two dozen test starts, I've finally learned how to not squander CIV to imports and the importance of fully fielded divisions.

Now it is time for some drive-through French wine, Norwegian Lutefisk, and British fish 'n chips. And while building some MARM Divisions, I'll snach some caviar for dessert in Moscow!

Yes I know this is thread necro. And yes I am doing it just out of spite. I did a meme run, only tech stealing, no collabs, no rubber or tanks or air or anything. Only industry tech, literally nothing aside from the industry or electronics folder. I had construction 5 done on 3.12.1938 and dispersed 5 done on 18.4.1939, which was too late to really make use of, but there it is.

I started off with 23 civ to mil conversions which was, idunno, probably too many ;p. All pre war conquests were historical, puppeting Slovakia and giving Transylvania to Hungary. I opted to go with the Second Vienna Award into Integrate War Economies because I thought the extra few factories would be worth it, but then missed out on Expand Dockyard Facilities and U-Boat Effort, so I dunno. I exploited getting Romania into my faction in dec 1937.

I went for a fast eco build. Starting with free trade into war eco into Schacht all in under 220 days. After that came Krupp, Canaries, promises of peace, Goebbels, and then save pp for Funk, another promises of peace which turned out was completely unnecessary, and extra build slots. On 1.6.1939 I also got spymaster with what was left of my pp because why not.

Focus order was Rhineland > Naval Rearmament > Naval Effort > 4YP > Autarky > HGW > KdF > Autobahn > Research Slot > Grossraumwirtschaft > Anschluss (I was waiting for the third civ focus, they didnt do their second infra focus) > Eastern Claims > Coal Liquidization > Sudetenland > 1VA > Fate > 2VA > IWE > no focus until the end date as it was less than 70 days away.

Another go round. This time with a naval build because I thought reducing consumer goods used was a better investment than the higher infrastructure and buildspeed modifier from war eco was. Thats probably wrong, but I still got a higher benchmark for other reasons.

Focus order was slightly different. First, because I got a good Austria and was able to take Anschluss 8th focus. Second, because I ignored research slot. That actually isnt really great to drop, as it ruined my juggling. I got Dispersed 5 way later this time around and was unable to use any of the extra slots it gave. And third, to pick up the six dockyards that I missed in the last run. I also gave up 2VA for it, so I had to split Czechoslovakia with Hungary in order to faction them. Im unsure if that is the right play, as I lost out on the higher compliance in Bohemia and Moravia, but it did give me an extra 70 days to make use of the Hungarian and Romanian civs.

Very nice!

You introduced so many new tricks that weren't done in the postings befores that it's hard to say what gave the edge.
Was it:
  • The tech stealing?
  • The rushing of construction and industry (You really got level 5 of both? The 1943 tier? How is this even possible? )
  • The MIL conversion?
  • Romanian CIVs? (You got them as your puppet, right?)
Can you explain what you need 2VA for?

I can answer part of this for him.
Tech stealing on a landlocked one state minor nation like Bhutan/Nepal/Tibet will give a 300% research bonus + 1 or 2 year ahead of time penalty reduction for an industry tech every ~200 days or so once you get your fourth spy, and once every ~250 days or so if you only have three spies. This is how you rush 1943 industry and construction. You can use your focus tree bonuses on either dispersed III + construction III, or on construction III/IV, and use tech stealing to get bonuses for whatever you don't have. If you get a 2 year reduction, you can get as low as ~30 days research time on construction V in 1939.

I can't really comment on the rest because I don't convert MILs as Germany and puppeting Romania is a pretty variable outcome in SP.

idea is you research juggle your industry techs. Leave one research slot free whenever possible and swap your industry tech of choice to that empty slot as soon as it hits 30 saved days of research. You can have construction IV by january '39 and even sooner if you do it properly. Having it finished a full 2+ years ahead of time is definitely worth it, and enables you to snowball massively your gains from Czech/Poland/France before barbarossa, and takes effect right when you're starting to build up synthetics but before mefo expires and you need it the most. @28lobster knows more about this strat than I do, if he wants to weigh in I'm sure he's the better person to talk to about it.

If this is true that is an obvious exploit/bug. Not sure want fun there is doing this since neifhrr die Abwehr krönt über belligerent would spy on on non players to get magical boost in industry tech.

Well, you are probably right, but I have watched this thread from the beginning and the guys are simply using HOI has a calculator to try and compute the largest Benchmark. In other words, they are playing and it is fun to see how far they can go with it. In the playing, there is a lot to learn about the math supporting everything the game does.

We really shouldn't necro threads, and it is especially problematic to do so out of spite. The moderators may take a dim view of such things.
