that I don't know maybe you could suggest some LE or ST candidates instead?

For Head of Intelligence, I'd say Beria. The NKVD both covered internal and external espionage.

Head of Navy should apparently be a P. A. Smirnov. But, apart from a few e-books, I can't find any information on him.

Head of Air Force should be Aleksandr Loktionov.

Also, considering the massive manpower gain of 1,250 through events made in 1.08, I'd recommend a second USSR purge in 1940/41, given the senior commanders killed by it - AoD already has many of those ministers in existence. Although, I think some more ministers would need to be added to compensate.

If Purge event kills, say, Shaposhnikov as a leader, would that also remove him as a minister? If so, maybe it was a case where all of the ministers got killed off randomly as the event kills of a bunch of random leaders. USSR would be left with no valid candidates so I guess the game would just throw in some Paternal Autocrat guys, guess USSR would need some new ministers options to make sure that doesent happen.

No. Unfortunatly AoD uses no sort of alias system.

If you assassinate Iosif Stalins armament minister variant, he also gets removed as a HoG, does he not? Is it different with ministers then? How does the game know to kill him off in all the positions, they share no ID, does it kill off everybody with the same name?

The game does not kill anybody...unless you make it do so!

Anyway...that's not big deal!

All that minor issues involving IDs, pictures, unimportant events, etc.

It is time AoD gets a serious patch with a hardcoded pack of improvements or even an expansion !

It is not too late...AoD is still the best WW2 grand strategy game EVER !

Hi, I had a closer look and those ministers and they where communists.
Perhaps having the historical deaths turned on messes with the event. Mikhail Viktorov died in 1937/38.

The event ignores the need for a replacement Head of Intelligence.

Anyway...that's not big deal!

I completely agree. I would love for AoD to have a C++ programmer remove the game mechanic flaws/exploits - and add even more incredible features for this phenomenal game.

But there are certainly many more soft-coded improvements that can be done - ministers, for me, are an important aspect of this as the AI has already been greatly improved in a mod. EDIT: I should also add I'd be very happy to see the 'fixing', or at least balancing, of the 1938 & 1939 scenarios. But that will most likely be down to modders, rather than the developers.

I guess an AoD Gold Edition that would cost about 15-20 euros wouldn't be a bad idea ! ;)

Perhaps making a clone of both AoD and DH would also be a superb idea !
An updated AoD featuring the best DH elements such as the extended modding capability, the map with more provinces, the decisions, etc.
This would be a major step towards perfection !!! :rolleyes:

I completely agree! I'd definitely pay £15-20 for an AoD & DH combo - or £10-15 for an extensively hardcoded patch for AoD.

There were some massive optimizations done for Darkest Hour regarding province distances (a pre-generated table rather than them being calculated every time a unit was ordered to move somewhere) which would probably do a lot for AoD, it is a little sluggish.
