In the Warhammer 40k Lore the Tech Priest believe that a True AI is impossible to create(because ignorant dark age future) and as such take on a far more immoral path of pretty much turning brains into a synthetic blank slate and creating cyborgs, thats whats with all the floating skull heads in Imperial Art.

You should consult the Machine Spirit on this issue

can't forget that it has been recently discovered and believed that the Machine God that the Adeptus Mechanius Worship is actually the Void Dragon from the race of Star Gods C'tan

Tau use tons of AI (i.e. drones), and they all do exactly what they're supposed to do (usually implied that the AIs recognize the concept of the Higher Good and pursue it just as any member of the Tau Alliance). Aka, they are not automatically evil and try to murder their creators at every opportunity, which is what the techpriests believe all AIs to aspire.
- tau AI is as intelligent as Pdx games AI. Il repeat, in Imperium exists negative experience of AI because in the past AI tried to wipe out his creators, from their perception and experience comes conclusion that AI is evil, how this conclusion can be wrong? Im telling this purely from lore perspective obviously.

For some reason, I've always wanted to create a federation of my own species instead of passing them out to sectors. I guess because it simulates a more diffuse government.... I don't always want control of everything.
It seems it's a good time to be space feudal emperor.

Some interesting screencaps of new stuff from the stream. I omitted things I already knew from Twitter, Diaries and such. I also didn't write down all of the Q&A answers so a thing or two may have slipped past me.

Advisor VO can be picked from the same window as your Situation Log, rightmost tab. It can also be set to automatically match your empire's dominant ethic if you wish.
(Presumably modded advisors will show up here as well)

Pampered pops have been changed to have conventional happiness (with a large boost) because the guaranteed 100% was interacting weirdly with starvation and habitability. They can also generate unrest if unhappy. Newly befriended pops will also suffer from the Recently Conquered debuff for the usual duration, until they get over their adorable notions of self-determination and welcome their new machine overfriends.
Reblorg02.png

Even without any of the big 3 machine archetype civics, generic machine empires can have flavourful government types based on their civics.
Reblorg03.png

Servitor Morale has been buffed again. The influence bonus appears to be the same but the resource output bonus was doubled, presumably capping out at +40% in this iteration. Standard non-final-numbers disclaimer applies.
Reblorg04.png

This is apparently a bug? From the sound of it, Machine Intelligence leaders aren't supposed to be targeted for assassination?
If Paradox ever has Twitch emotes, please use Wiz's face from this for pdxW
Reblorg06.png

Terraforming techs now increase the energy cap a little to facilitate expensive/simultaneous terraforming projects.
Reblorg07.png

Planetary fortifications now regenerate even while under bombardment. The rate of regeneration scales with maximum health and Planetary Shield has been buffed to somehow interact with this mechanic (not clear on the details, I may have to rewatch that part). Overall this is supposed to prevent heavily fortified planets from falling to a single corvette through attrition.
Reblorg08.png

Machine Empires apparently have their own uses for Alien Pets.
Reblorg09.png

Other info revealed on today's stream:
  • Wiz fixed a funny AI bug that was causing AI to evaluate enemy forces as allies in come circumstances, resulting in suicide squads charging at overwhelmingly large fleets for no reason.
  • Passive fleet stance will now allow military fleets to ignore unarmed civillian stations (YAY!) Aggressive fleet stance will engage all enemy units as normal.
  • Organic Sanctuary appears to no longer require manual construction. It automatically appears on the same tiles as pampered pops and when they are moved, the building goes with them.
  • Wiz is looking into allowing genemodding on individual pop basis but it's just an idea for now and may not make it into 1.8
  • Wiz agrees that the "Map the Stars" edict becomes available too late to be useful so it will probably be moved earlier in the tech tree.

Nope not true in 1.7.4. I traded away about 5 planets from a neighbouring empire which war-decced me to my vassal.

That's exploiting it a bit isn't it? Asuming of course the war declaration was then invalid.

I suppose it's like changing your religion in Crusader Kings 2 when someone declares a holy war on you.... stops the war. I've had that happen to me where I nearly conquered the entire of a country and they go "oh wait... I realise the error of my ways" and convert and then we're at peace again. Was frustrating.

That was a mess of a post and I apologise for how unclear it was.

I was playing as a peaceful Hivemind, when half the galaxy declared war on me. So I won the war, ceded a bunch of planets, then traded my planets to a vassal I had obtained to strengthen them.
